Airman stationed at Stargate Command during General Jack O'Neill's first days as commander of the base. Rush was sent to the Gate Room when the General became concerned that there was something wrong with Dr. Daniel Jackson, who was about to leave the base with SG-11 -- possess by the noncorporeal form of Anubis.
Anubis demanded that the Stargate be opened, and in the ensuing confrontation he shot Rush in the right arm.
