Diner in Colorado Springs where Vala Mal Doran, hungry, tired and with no memory of who she was, attempted to get a free meal. the Diner's owner, Sal, took pity on her and gave her a job as a waitress, where she used the assumed name Val.
However, after she single-handedly defeated two armed men who tried to rob the place, she was taken by Detective Ryan, a regular customer at the Diner, to give a statement.
