This sucks. I mean, I’m hopeful we get ANYTHING, but there is NO WAY that this story could be summarized in 1 or 2 movies. Terrible. We can’t find ANY network willing to at least give it like a 6 or 7 part mini-series AND THEN a movie??

sigh.

I guess they could build on the idea you brought up in a podcast, that the destiny and seed ships have basically reached the vicinity of their destination and were waiting for the crew. Rather then us just getting lucky. Could be why the ships AI is ‘working’ them so hard to get them up to speed. Really hope this comes to pass, would preorder on Amazon now!

Great. Let’s charge forward and make a “movie or two” about a show, story and characters that barely made 1.5 seasons before it was canned for bad ratings. And lets just flush a movie for a show that was still going strong after 5 seasons, or the movie for a show that ran for 10. Yeah. This makes perfect sense. :/

Someone has said in one of these comment threads that the guilt for things with SGU ending and turning out the way it did wasn’t only on SyFy but on showrunners as well. And I tend to agree. They must have known due to “fantastic” ratings that there was a “quite” strong possibility of the show being canned and this being the last season. And they still refused to take notice of that,and/or count that in.So the fact that they still refused to make,at least a contingency plan, just in case they don’t get renewed for another season and make an alter-ending with the… Read more »

Be nice if BW tried harder to get an Atlantis and Sg1 movie made. Better yet a 6th season to Atlantis. Though the chance of that happening is 0% unfortunately. :-( A fitting end to SGU is the Destiny crashing into a star.

To tHose saying an sg1 and a sga movie should happen are crazy!! Sg1 had 2 great movies and I agree sga needs 1 but sga had a nice run but what story is thereto close on? Sga had no story after season 1.5. I agree enemy at the gates was super rushed and a better ending should happen but in reallity there is now real ending to sga.sgu has a specific story that has a beginning and a conclusion and it’s that story that should get a movie first. Also for those sayingsgu characters weregarbage plz! Other than shep… Read more »

So the series ending that they said they might possibly be able to finish up in one more season, they’re hoping for a movie or two to tell? Have we ever been told the truth about anything with SGU? I’m hoping it doesn’t happen. Stargate needs to die for now so that the buildup for a reboot can begin. Mallozzi has all but said that he didn’t agree with the direction that Wright took things in his blog (he’s jumping at the chance to work on a fast-paced action-adventure comedy…ironically not another slow, character driven drama..) and Cooper was smart… Read more »

Brad Wright should be thanked for the many great years of Stargate. Yes, SGU did not work out but to be so unkind towards the man who brought us Stargate for so many years is very short sided. There would be no Stargate without him!

I would love to see them wrap up the franchise with a movie from SG1, SGA, and SGU. But to be honest, SG1 and SGA are far more bankable than SGU.

As someone who dislikes SGU, I would still say an SGU movie *IS* higher priority than another SG-1 one, or even one for my beloved Atlantis. Simply because they need to finish the story.

Atlantis really bleeds for a good movie, but the series had a proper finale. You don’t want to leave a series hanging on a cliffhangar if you can help it.

Hopefully, they’ll push for the SGU movie enough to get it, and maybe it’ll even be profitable enough for MGM to bring the Atlantis one out.

It’s just more hype. What are the odds they would ever green-light a movie to a show that bombed, when they wouldn’t even green-light a movie to their previous show that was successful and actually had viewers? If anything came of this, I’d be shocked. And appalled.

it wont happen, and these actors dont seem attached to stargate so much to keep them from being busy with something else. Sorry just cant see this ever happening. if it was hard to get a SG-1 and SGA movie than can you imagine how hard it must be to convince whoever to make a SGU movie?? sheeesh!

Tekrelm lol didnt read your comment until now, i said the same thing.

I also agree with Jim, what TPTB piss me off how they choose to end this season with a cliffhanger, knowing they have bad odds of getting picked up for a third season. They did this to blackmail the network with it, which is silly.

BW from wikipedia: “And the fact that some of the fans that liked SG-1 and Atlantis were so angry that they have deliberately hurt us, which is unfortunate.” I don’t think I even have to comment on that.

It’s funny. I loved SG-1, was bored quickly with SGA, and really got addicted and… absorbed… by SGU. There were some powerful episodes and moments. I so wish we could have a third season, and its cancellation has about finished SyFy for me. So I’d love to see an SGU movie – or any SG film they can get on a screen.

: But SGA was ended specifically to make movies, not because of bad ratings, and SyFy already owns the airing rights for one movie. SGU simply bombed and SyFy canceled it. That’s a big difference.

I hate to say it, but you people are blinded by your anger. Might as well blame Brad for multi-billion debt that MGM managed to make. That’s more than many countries’ national year budget! The reason we didn’t get third SG-1 movie, which was at one point green-lit and a SGA movie is because MGM couldn’t afford to change a dead light bulb, much less pay an electrical bill to power it. Hell they even couldn’t afford to get their biggest franchise (Bond) of the ground, which was a sure bet at the box office. But no, let’s blame Brad,… Read more »

: MGM didn’t cancel Atlantis. SyFy did. Besides, SGA wasn’t going strong at that point. It was awful & had totally gone downhill *and* had bad ratings.

As for others, the only good thing about SGU getting canceled is that I won’t have to see anti-fan rhetoric mucking up comment sections about Stargate anymore.

So my guess would be that they want to see how these last 10 episodes trend in the ratings. So make sure to sit down on Monday night and watch it LIVE if you want ANY Stargate in the near future.

I agree ratings wise sgu bombed but the 5th season of sga wasn’t that muchbetter. Except for a few episode sga was pulling in what 1.2 ,1.4’s even a 1.1 the show ha it’s moments. I agree it needs a movie but re show that pnnow needs it more.

– Whatever Brad Wright had to do with making the Stargate shows, it’s still his fault that things are how they are. His prior actions don’t change that. He is responsible for where things are at now. I’m not saying that he may not come around and redeem. But it is his fault just the same. And Brad Wright lives his lofty lifestyle because of the career path he chose to take. Part of the price of choosing that career is being bound to the fans of television and having your decisions be judged.

@majorsal Took the words right out of my mouth. All this talk of needing to give SGU a proper ending/conclusion, what about Atlantis being concluded? We were promised an SG1 and Atlantis movie and before we get a movie to a far less successful show (lets face it, it was dropped after 1.5 seasons) it MAKES SENSE to make the SG1 and Atlantis movies first. I’m not saying that SGU shouldn’t get a movie to conclude its story for its viewers, it should get a proper ending. But the fact is not only is it fair that SG1 and Atlantis… Read more »

Sry aboutthe grammatical errors I had 10 sec title that because my train was going down into the subway. I understand the frustration by the die hard sga fans because I am one but I’m not an angry fan. I’m not speaking about season average. I don’t care about that. I’m talking about actual episode per episode and sga was around 1.4 ish on the reg with a uptick here and there and a down tick here and there. Those are not great and if sga was on today with 1.5 ish ratings would it be renewed? W13 and eureka pull high 2’s and 3’s.
I want an sga movie but as a stargate fan I want a sgu movie first . That’s all

SGU’s best episode in season 2 got only 1.222 million viewers. Two episodes didn’t even get 1 million viewers. 1.4 million viewers is still quite a lot better and SGA was able to uptick for important episodes, SGU not.

And I think if SGU would have gotten 1.6 million viewers in season 2, they would currently make a 3rd season. W13 and Eureka are hits shows on Syfy. A show doesn’t need so good ratings to get renewed.

Could be just me, but does anyone else think it strange that a movie for SGU only came up after the sets of SG1 and SGA had been sold at auction and are no longer available? Definitely something to ponder, in my opinion. I can only hope that someone at MGM has a brain and knows how to use it because why on Earth…or anywhere else, for that matter…would you make a movie for a show that tanked in 1.5 seasons? And yes, before anyone mentions it in reaction to my comments, I’l admit that I still would like to… Read more »

I would hope if they dont make the last three or four seasons. Then they should make at least three to four movies to finish the story. The other thing is to see if FOX, USA, THE CW, OR TNT or even where SG-1 first started on SHOWTIME. To air the rest of the series. The othing that SYFY should do is move SGU back to Friday Nights. Moving it to Monday on CBS you have Hawaii Five-0 on at ten.

If they decide to make any of the movies,it’d be kinda logical to start with the movie that’s already ready to be made..SGA.It could be finished quickly,it would certainly be popular among the fans and it could open up the possibility for other movies to be made.

I was greatful for AOT, because it closed SG1 as a series and “bookends” it with the Final Cut version of COTG. Therefore I think if two more movies are made, they should do one for SGA and one for SGU to do the same. However, in the end we all know that money/profit is what makes production decisions in the film industry. MGM will know that too, and if they do consider more SGate films, they will have to carefully balance the popularity and longevity of SG1 and Atlantis, along with ending Universe’s story. For me personally? The Atlantis… Read more »

First time poster, but I have trolled this site for a long time – and have been with Stargate since the early years of SG-1. I have to say, I had absolutely no connection with SGU, never will do – it is *not* the show I fell in love with, simple as that. I gave it around 10 episodes, by which point I honestly couldn’t give a toss about any of the characters. By contrast, SG-1 hit the ground running, and by the 10th episode (Torment of Tantalus?) I was hooked, and I stayed around for 10 seasons and two… Read more »

By the way, the approach for the film is simple : – one last adventure, with the original team. Vala and Mitchell were fine, but they aren’t necessary. And have a clear pay off on Sam and Jack. Yes, it’s been made pretty clear they’re together, but make it canon, and close the circle on it. I’m honestly not sure if an SG-1 movie can make money right now – not when the budget would probably have to be a fair bit north of $12m dollars. But one things for sure – the only Stargate that has a chance of… Read more »

@ psw (and everyone else claiming bad ratings brought about the cancellation of SGU). I have posted, several times, the reality (and inescapable fantasy) of the rating system. So, to put the expressed ratings in proper perspective, here is a recalculation of the ratings example you used. SGA Season 5 average: 400 Nielsen viewers live + SD SGU Season 2 average: 270 Nielsen viewers live + SD I’m using an approximation of 100 million viewing house holds in the US (might be less but probably more) measured against the approximately 25000 boxes Nielsen uses. For a more detailed understanding of… Read more »
