UDPATED: August 2024
We get this question a lot: How can I watch Stargate episodes and movies online?
Whether you are brand new to the Stargate franchise or just looking to revisit a favorite episode, there are places you can legally watch Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, SGU, and the movies on the Internet – at least with the right subscription. (Episodes and full seasons are also available for sale, if you’d rather download it to own. A complete Blu-ray collection is also now available.)
Here’s a quick and handy guide for where the shows are currently streaming for U.S. viewers. Outside the U.S. check these and other digital streaming services and retail outlets. Rights differ from one country to the next, and they change from time to time.
(Note: GateWorld receives a commission from any purchases made through our Amazon affiliate links. Thank you for supporting the site!)
Only want SG-1’s episodes that are important to the ongoing storylines? Cut your viewing time in half with GateWorld’s Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.
We will keep this guide updated as things change! If you know of a change in one of the show’s online availability, please drop us a tip.
WATCHING STARGATE SG-1
Where to Watch: Prime Video, Pluto TV, Freevee
Amazon: All 10 seasons are currently included with Amazon Prime Video in the U.S. Prime subscribers can watch the show’s entire run for no additional cost. The two follow-up movies, The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, are available to rent or buy.)
Pluto TV: All 10 seasons are streaming for free (with ads) on Pluto TV in the United States. The service has both an On Demand section and a 24/7 Stargate Channel. These are the widescreen episodes, and the first episode is the “Final Cut” (without the nudity of the original cable braodcast … although Pluto TV still labels it as “TV-MA”).
Freevee: Amazon’s free ad-supported service has Stargate running on a loop as a 24/7 live channel. These are widescreen episodes, streaming in standard definition.
Here’s the order we recommend you watch them in — especially if you are mixing Stargate Atlantis in there, too.)
Episodes and seasons are also available for purchase from: iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, and other retail sites.
Video Quality: In January 2023 Amazon switched from upscaled 16:9 widescreen episodes to the inferior standard definition, 4:3 syndication edit. The best way to watch the show right now is to buy it on Blu-ray or DVD (the DVD edition sporting a 5.1 surround sound mix starting with Season Two). If you are looking to stream instead, you’ll have to decide between watching a worse copy on Prime Video or widescreen episodes with ads on Pluto or Freevee.
WATCHING STARGATE ATLANTIS
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Pluto TV, Freevee
Amazon: All five seasons are currently included with Amazon Prime Video. Prime subscribers can stream all 100 episodes of the show on Prime Video for no additional cost.
Hulu: All five seasons of SGA are available to watch with your Hulu subscription.
Pluto TV: All five seasons are streaming for free (with ads) on Pluto TV in the United States. The service has both an On Demand section and a 24/7 Stargate Channel.
Freevee: Amazon’s free ad-supported service has Stargate running on a loop as a 24/7 live channel. These are widescreen episodes, streaming in standard definition.
Episodes and seasons are also available for purchase from: iTunes, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, and other retail sites.
Video Quality: Stargate Atlantis is available in both HD and standard definition. (If you are buying, HD runs a few bucks more.) Streaming services will stream the highest quality your Internet connection is able to handle, up to 1080p. The show looks great (Atlantis filmed in HD from Day 1) — but if you have both Amazon and Hulu, watch it on Amazon. Hulu’s copies of the episodes have hard act breaks (edited in for commercials), which isn’t the optimal way to enjoy the show.
WATCHING STARGATE UNIVERSE
Where to Watch: Amazon Prime Video, Pluto TV, Freevee
Amazon: Both seasons of SGU are currently available on Amazon Prime Video. Prime subscribers can stream all 40 episodes of the show on Prime Video for no additional cost.
Pluto TV: Both seasons of SGU are streaming for free (with ads) on Pluto TV in the United States.
Video Quality: Stargate Universe is available in both HD and standard definition. For the absolute best quality picture, pick up the show on Blu-ray.
WATCHING THE STARGATE MOVIES
Where to Watch: Prime Video, Pluto TV, Tubi, YouTube, Hoopla
Amazon: The original film and the two SG-1 movies, The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum, are currently available to rent or buy on Prime Video. Or you can sign up for a 7-day free trial of MGM+ and watch them there.
Pluto TV: The two SG-1 movies are currently streaming free (with ads) on Pluto TV in the United States: Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum. The service has both an On Demand section and a 24/7 Stargate Channel.
Tubi: The original feature, plus both SG-1 movies are available to watch for free on Tubi. You may see ads here as well.
YouTube: The original Stargate feature film is currently available free for a limited time on YouTube in the United States.
Hoopla: The Stargate SG-1 films are available for free via the Hoopla digital service in the U.S., which requires a (free) account through a participating library. To access this service you have to have a library card, and your library must be a Hoopla subscriber.
The original film also does not appear to be available for sale at present. However the two SG-1 movies are available to rent or purchase from: iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, and other retail sites.
Video Quality: The Stargate movies are available in both HD and standard definition.
WATCHING STARGATE ORIGINS
Where to Watch: Pluto TV, Tubi, Hoopla
Stargate Origins was originally released in February and March of 2018 as a 10-part Web series. It streamed exclusively at MGM’s official Web site, Stargate Command. Since that site went offline at the end of 2019, Origins is no longer available anywhere in this format. (Find more details on the site’s closure here.) In June of 2018 the series was re-cut as the feature-length movie Stargate Origins: Catherine, which is available online.
Amazon: The feature cut Stargate Origins: Catherine is currently available to rent or buy on Prime Video.
Pluto TV: Origins is streaming on demand for free (with ads) on Pluto TV in the United States.
Tubi: The feature cut Stargate Origins: Catherine is available to stream for free on Tubi.
Hoopla: Stargate Origins: Catherine is also available for free via the Hoopla digital service in the U.S., which requires a (free) account through a participating library. To access this service you have to have a library card, and your library must be a Hoopla subscriber.
Origins is not currently available on any of the subscription services in the U.S.
You can also buy the feature cut from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube, Vudu, and elsewhere.
Video Quality: Stargate Origins is available in both HD and standard definition.
STARGATE INFINITY
Where to Watch: Amazon
The 2002 animated series is not an official part of Stargate’s canon, and so it isn’t required watching by any means. Stargate: Infinity ran for a single season and is also available for purchase on DVD.
Amazon: The series is available online through Amazon Prime by purchasing the “MIDNIGHT PULP” add-on service (which has a 7-day free trial).
IS STARGATE ON NETFLIX?
Licensing rights frequently change. At present none of the Stargate franchise is streaming on Netflix in the United States. Bookmark this page for updates!
BUT DOESN’T AMAZON OWN STARGATE NOW?
Amazon’s acquisition of MGM (the studio that owns Stargate) closed in March of 2022. We anticipate that the Stargate franchise has found a more permanent home on Amazon’s streaming platforms and won’t be going anywhere.
The shows left Prime Video in the U.S. for a few days at the beginning of 2023, and when they were restored the higher quality, widescreen version of SG-1 was replaced with the lower resolution, 4:3 syndication cut for the show’s earlier seasons. If you are looking for the best viewing experience, we recommend the Blu-ray or DVD releases — no question.
Keep watching GateWorld for the latest updates.
There are more than 350 episodes of Stargate … so get to it! Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, we hope you enjoy watching.

This guide is accurate as of the date listed at the top. If you’ve spotted a change on one of these streaming services, please take a moment and let us know.
Now if only they’d put ORIGINS on Blu-ray and produce another season of it–but this time, make it good.
You can currently watch SG-1 on Comet TV. They continuously cycle through the three series, showing episodes twice a day. They have a TV app and can be watched online, and it’s all free. Word of caution, though — there is no on-demand, only live feed.
Thanks, David — great tip! Comet is online at: https://www.comettv.com/
In the UK all 17 seasons are currently available on now tv/sky go
You can check here https://www.justwatch.com/uk/search?q=stargate
The El Rey channel on direct TV has SG-1 and Atlantis.
This was a major selling point for me with VRV. I love the Stargate series. SG-1 is one of my favorite shows of all time and sometimes I just need to binge some.
Aside from anime, VRV also has about a dozen channels that aren’t related to anime, including a CuriosityStream for documentaries and Shudder for horror movies.
Stargate SG1, all TEN Season are on Amazon Prime!
Not in Canada.. the last few seasons aren’t available on Canadian Prime, in fact, they used to be included with Prime, but now you have to sub to Prime’s MGM channel to get the first 7 seasons instead. MGM is pretty cheap though, at I think 4 or 5 bucks a month.. AFAIK, all the movies are available In Canada , as well as SG Atlantis, but again, they’re all on Prime/MGM . So it’s only the last 3 seasons of SG-1, and SG Universe, that isn’t available in Canada. I did try to buy a membership in Gateworld half… Read more »
Doccus: Do you mean Stargate Command (not GateWorld)? We’ve never had paid memberships here. Stargate Command stopped taking subscriptions around September-ish, just before announcing that the site was closing at the end of 2019.
Amazon Prime now has Ark of Truth and Continuum.
Updated with the SG-1 movies on Prime — thanks, gnoel809!
Note that all of the options for SG1 is unavailable outside of the US.
Some of Stargate has left Amazon Prime. The original movie, SGA and SGU are gone, SG1, Ark of Truth, Continuum & Origins remain.
As of 8/10/19, it looks like Stargate Atlantis is back on Amazon Prime in US. It’s playing on my computer. I also see all 10 seasons of SG-1, too.
Hulu is missing episode 17 of season 5. Customer service said they couldn’t get the rights to that one episode. Kind of weird, but I thought I warn you.
Hehe, Suckers pay for decades old content :p
Star Gate SG-1 was available free on Comet TV when you use the antenna. It’s on Mon – Fri from 10 pm to midnight. It’s currently showing the last of the series. Hoping that they will start Star Gate Atlantis soon. Especially since we are all stuck home!
Amazon Prime doesn’t include stargate with prime anymore, and you now have to buy each season separately, or subscribe to the mgm service.
David: I double-checked and I still see all three shows on Amazon Prime (U.S.), as of April 19, 2020.
Season 5 of SGA is not available on Prime in canada, but the rest of the seasons are. Kinda strange.
Just bought the whole DVD box of stargate Atlantis. This is the only way to see the series in sweden again./ Stargatefan
This should be updated – as of right now, the series aren’t available even for purchase on Amazon, at least where I am (the U.S.).
Updated — thanks, Nick! It’s bizarre that the episodes aren’t even available for purchase on Amazon right now. This happened last year and they were still findable, but each show had an entirely separate listing for sales (one was sales, one was Prime Video). But I don’t see that now.
So why isn’t this on netflix nor prime in europe?
Found this page where it says hulu.. never heard of that. Shaka zulu yeah, but hulu no.
Cool that everyone and their mother is starting a stream service.. NOT
It’s back on Amazon.Just watched a full episode tonight. It is a bit flakey right as it kept defaulting to an episode in season 10 but after a while I was able to select the episode in season 3 where I left off before they took it down last month. I also checked and Atlantis is back up there too.
Thanks for the head’s up, Cofga! I’ll get an update posted.
There is no SG1 on Amazon Prime!!! Was just there, did several searches and NOTHING!!!!! Your information is BS mate!!! Do some actual research eh!!!
Just tried to sign up with HULU but they won’t accept my area/zip code!!! WTF!!! That’s twice now your advice has turned out to be BS!!! FFS all I want to do is watch some SG-1 but everything I try leads to a dead end or some BS glitch…SMH
Glenn: Sorry that you’ve been experiencing difficulties. I suspect you might be outside the U.S., which would explain both the Amazon an Hulu problems. Amazon’s rights vary country by country; and Hulu is currently a U.S.-only service.
As stated at the top, the info on this page is for the U.S. market. Elsewhere, check your local listings.
Hulu cuts the heck out of Universe
Watched the original movie on Amazon prime today (in USA)!!
As of 2/28/2021 it’s no longer available on Amazon Prime. I was halfway through season 2 last night!!! I hate it when they do this!!!
I don’t know for how long but YouTube has the original Stargate movie for free though with horrifically-placed ad breaks. Also the volume level on YouTube movies is really low so I had to watch with my earbuds. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0oFZ8LAFkk
Someone on the Stargate subreddit is saying SG-1 is back on Prime (I assume they mean Amazon Prime?) but when I look, it still says all the Stargate shows are unavailable and I’ve tried logging into Prime on 3 different browsers. Anyone know anything about this?
I’m not seeing any of the shows available in a Web browser in the U.S.
That’s what I thought. Not sure why that person thought SG-1 is on Prime unless another service named Prime has it.
The Stargate 1994 movie is now on Netflix: https://netflixlife.com/2021/04/25/shows-and-movies-on-netflix-april-26-2021/
I don’t want to read too much into this and wonder if maybe with SG-1 still being there and now the movie added, they’re contemplating distributing Brad’s new show. I don’t want to go there and get my hopes up only to have them dashed. But it is rather random that they added the movie. Hmm. Darren, any thoughts???
I saw this, and I think it’s coincidence. The movie comes and goes from Netflix a couple of times per year.
That said, I think Netflix would be an obvious choice for Brad’s next show … so it’s certainly possible those discussions are happening! SG-1 has reportedly been doing pretty well there.
That’s good to hear, just wondering how/where you heard it’s been doing well on Netflix?
It seems like I read an article, but now I can’t find it. (I might also be misremembering the Top 10 shows lists from the past several months.)
I…don’t love the idea of Netflix being the home for the new show actually, they’re just way too trigger-happy with their original shows. If at all the rumors about Brad finding a distributor for the show are true, I think two options are best: 1) syndication like the scifi/fantasy shows of old used to be (Hercules, Xena, Andromeda, etc.) – that way network affiliates can buy them and air them when they want though it makes it harder to discuss shows and I don’t know if original syndication is much of a thing anymore which is why I think 2)… Read more »
Good ideas here, shelly. I am scratching my head and having a tough time coming up with any modern scripted shows that are original to syndication. Everything my local channels run is off-network acquisitions. I think that market more or less doesn’t exist any more, due to the proliferation of original programming on cable. There’s just so much competition for the limited air space, and most local channels today are either affiliated with a broadcast network or are owned by a conglomerate (or both). So there’s not a lot of primetime slots available; and I think most fans wouldn’t want… Read more »
Yeah, the original syndication model has died out, that’s true which is funny because it was huge back in the ’90s. Do you have a link to the piece you talked about where you mention Epix as a possible home for a new Stargate show? I agree with you that Epix isn’t very prestigious and on no one’s radar – I only know of it because they did a free preview of Pennyworth – but if no other platform is willing to host a new Stargate show, I think MGM should at least consider it especially since Pennyworth is now… Read more »
Here’s that essay, which was written in 2018. The Epix discussion is on page 2. Thanks!
I went to watch the movies on YouTube Movies and they’re no longer free. Back to Rent/Buy
As of today (2nd January 2022) Netflix doesn’t have any Stargate episodes or movies available in Australia.
Noticed the same thing yesterday in the USA. Looks like we might have to wait for the Amazon MGM merger to go through.
Wow that was quick. I searched again for it on Netflix earlier today and then it just appeared in MyList so it’s back!
Stargate Infinity can now be seen on Tubi. It’s free to view.
Thanks for the head’s up, buddyglenn!
Stargate SG-1 is on Dailymotion. And is for free in UK.
The Stargate situation is bizarre. SG-1 exclusive to Netflix. Atlantis exclusive to Hulu. My guess is they will both return to Amazon once their purchase of MGM is completed.
I saw Stargate Origins: Catherine on Amazon Prime again. It has returned to Prime users.
Thank you for the heads up!
How do I get the Children of the Gods Final Cut in a box set? I’d like to avoid the other version but it’s tied to the other Season 1 episodes.
Unfortunately it’s not sold in any full-season or series releases, but only as a stand-alone movie. (When Amazon is streaming Stargate on Prime, they also have the Final Cut with Season 1.)
Currently watching SG1 and Atlantis on Prime and saw today that both are leaving the platform at the end of 2022.
They are gone/not on Amazon prime US as of this morning, Dec 31 2023 :(
Just wanted to say, Stargate: Infinity left the Tubi streaming service some where during late November and early December. There one day, gone the next. Quite possibly the most bizarre Stargate series ever… Non-canon or otherwise
Thank you! I’ve updated the page.
Belgium using amazon.fr Prime: SG Atlantis, SG Universe and all the movies have suddenly disappeared from the catalogue since the 1st of march.
All 10 seasons of SG-1 are still on it so far.
These companies really want to push us back on the seas with the mess they are creating.
I thought it was clear to them that people just want convenience and we’ll gladly pay for it if that option exists; but we’ll also gladly seek it ourselves if none want to deliver on that.
Stargate movies “Ark of Truth” and “Continuum” and “Stargate Origins: Catherine” are leaving Tubi at the end of March.
A notice appears that Stargate SG-1, Atlantis, and Universe are leaving Amazon Prime again. It says 13 days on 12/18/2023.
