A second Stargate fan favorite has joined the ranks of the Tweetable this week.

Just days after news that Stargate SG-1 actor Michael Shanks had unexpectedly joined the social networking service comes word that actor Paul McGillion (“Dr. Carson Beckett”) has also signed himself up.

GateWorld briefly talked with the Atlantis actor exclusively earlier today and he jokingly laid the blame squarely on one of his fellow Atlantis castmates — namely, his successor.

“I hadn’t planned on it!” McGillion said. “I’m not really the technologically-savvy type.  But I was hanging out with Jewel Staite (“Dr. Jennifer Keller”) yesterday and she’s the one who set me up on it.  I have no idea what I’m doing yet, but it seems fun!”

“Once I figure everything out better, I’m looking forward to letting all my fans know what I’m up to and talking with them all!” McGillion added.

In other related news, you can catch McGillion this weekend in a new installment of the ABC network genre series Once Upon A Time.  The actor will portray “The Knave of Hearts” in an Alice In Wonderland-inspired episode entitled “Hat Trick.”  The series airs on ABC on Sunday night at 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central.
