Big Finish debuts third series of Stargate audio books
The first installment of the brand new series of Stargate audio adventures has arrived! Big Finish Productions has releases Series 3: Part One, a 3-hour adventure that stars Michael Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”), Claudia Black (“Vala Mal Doran”), and Cliff Simon (“Baal”).
Part One includes three stories: “Half Life,” written by James Swallow (“Relativity,” “Nightfall,” “Halcyon”), “An Eye for an Eye” by Sally Malcolm (“The Cost of Honor,” “A Matter of Honor”), and “Infiltration” by Steve Lyons.
Here’s how the studio describes the overall story line, set during Season Ten:
A shooting in the heart of Stargate Command is only the beginning for Daniel Jackson and Vala Mal Doran.
Suddenly it’s friend against friend, none of their allies can be relied upon and they’re the universe’s only hope to foil the latest scheme concocted by the last System Lord, Ba’al.
Will Daniel, Vala and a few of Vala’s less than savoury friends be enough to stop a conspiracy that reaches deep into the heart of Stargate Command and threatens to destroy everything they’ve spent years building?
The audio book runs £30 GBP for the 3-CD set or £25 for a digital download. This is a full dramatic production with voice acting, music, and sound effects.

I haven’t purchased any of the audio books, in part because they seem very pricey. Can anyone vouch for them? Are they any good?

katikatnik | July 15 @ 3:32 pmIs it just me, or does Michael Shanks not sound like himself in a lot of the trailer? I guess it’s kind of a reading voice, and not an acting voice. Whereas Claudia Black sounds perfect.

Ten minutes into it you won’t have any issues.
Really, these three are the most fun recordings I’ve had from Big Finish. The quality of recording and sound effects is excellent. Shanks and Black are pitch perfect. Great new characters. Really looking forward to the next series.
Only issue is Baal is a little too “kneel before your god” but hey, with a hundred clones out there, who knows when you are going to get a throw back of that kind?
The first story is my favorite but I equally love the next two. Really, they are sooo worth the money.
