PRODUCTION
  • "For [a] specific spotlight performance, check out ... Chris Judge in 'Birthright.'"
(Our Stargate online chat with executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

  • "'Birthright' explores the Jaffa culture -- particularly the role of women within said culture."
(Our Stargate online chat with executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

  • Will Teal'c get a girlfriend? "Check out Season Seven's 'Birthright' for the answer to that one." (Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at GateWorld Forum)

  • "Unlike, for instance, on Chulak, when a youngster comes of age they're given a symbiote, the women who fall under the hold of this Goa'uld, fall under a rule of a birthright that all firstborn females are killed. So what they do is they rescue all these firstborn females and they've created, in a sense, almost like a fifth column of Jaffa, sort of a female Jaffa sect. And they cross paths with SG-1."
(Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi, in an interview with the Stargate SG-1 Explorer Unit)

  • "I actually wrote 'Birthright' for [Jolene Blalock]. They asked me who I saw, and I said, 'Well, I kind of wrote it with Jolene Blalock in mind.' So it was either -- if we hadn't gotten Jolene, the only two people I really saw doing the role at all was either Jolene or Victoria Pratt. And we were fortunate enough to get Jolene."
(Writer and "Teal'c" actor Christopher Judge, in an interview with GateWorld)

  • "Actor Chris Judge's second foray into scripting sees him tackle Jaffa cultural constraints, sexism, and uneasy alliances. Apparently, he wrote the part of Ishta for Jolene Blalock. Thankfully, she was available to play the role. The episode also features a cameo by executive producer Michael Greenburg's wife, Nicky. At one point in the episode, she rides by on a horse and shouts something."
(Writer / producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)
