Actor Dean Marshall is expected to reprise his Season One role of Sergeant Bates in an upcoming episode of Stargate Atlantis, GateWorld has learned. The character will appear in “Outcast,” currently slated to be the fourteenth episode of the new season.
Bates was head of Atlantis’s city security — and a constant questioner of Teyla’s loyalty — until a tangle with a Wraith infiltrator left him seriously injured (“The Siege, Part 1”). He hasn’t been seen or mentioned on the show since, leaving many fans wondering about the character’s fate.
In “Outcast,” Sheppard and Ronon find Bates on board the Apollo and learn that he was honorably discharged from the military due to his injuries. He soon took a job as a field agent for the I.O.A.
As this news is based on the script for an episode that has not started filming yet, remember that it is subject to change during the production process.
The fourth season of Stargate Atlantis premieres with “Adrift” on Friday, September 28 at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on SCI FI Channel!
