But the new season will start with major developments for Ford, a character many fans regard as under-developed in Season One. “We have plans for him as a recurring character in an arc that extends through at least the first part of Season Two,” Wright said.
Francks himself was looking forward to the coming season when GateWorld spoke with him in London in November. “Season Two is going to be fun. From what I’ve spoken to the writers about, there are some very interesting things in line for Ford,” he said. “‘If you weren’t interested in Ford before, you definitely will be,’ is all I can say. I can’t let any of it out because it’s all speculation right now, but what we’ve spoken about is extremely exciting.”
To fill Ford’s shoes the producers will also add a new regular character, Ronon Dex, to the mix (story). Dex is currently being cast.
Actor Paul McGillion (“Carson Beckett”) will also become a regular cast member next season, Wright confirmed. “In fact, that’s how we thought of him most of last year,” he said. “It just wasn’t formalized yet.”
Ten new episodes will round out the show’s first season beginning Friday, January 21 on The SCI FI Channel in the U.S. Season Two will premiere this summer.
