More details on ‘Ex Deus Machina’

SG-1 is caught between two unpredictable foes in the upcoming episode “Ex Deus Machina.” GateWorld has just received new information on the episode, expected to be Season Nine’s seventh.

Watch out for falling spoilers below!

“The team intervenes when an ongoing conflict between Gerak (Louis Gossett, Jr.) and Baal (Cliff Simon) puts the United States at risk.

“When the team investigates the death of a Jaffa in a small Virginia town, they find evidence suggesting that the former Goa’uld System Lord Baal may have had a hand in the slaying. They learn that after the Jaffa defeated Baal in his attempt to take over one of their planets, he relocated to Earth, where he has been living in hiding for the past nine months.

“The Jaffa High Council is aware of Baal’s presence, but has been unable to determine his exact location. The impatient Gerak (Louis Gossett, Jr.), furious to discover that Baal is still alive, sent a team of Jaffa to Earth in an attempt to locate and capture their nemesis. As evidenced by the dead Jaffa, the mission failed.

“With his presence on Earth no longer a secret, Baal has planted a bomb somewhere in the United States and threatens to detonate it if pursued. As Carter (Amanda Tapping) and Daniel (Michael Shanks) attempt to locate the bomb without attracting the attention of Baal’s henchmen, Mitchell (Ben Browder), Teal’c (Christopher Judge) and Landry (Beau Bridges) attempt a diplomatic resolution, negotiating with Gerak to stop him from using force. Caught between two unpredictable foes, will the Stargate team be able to peacefully diffuse the situation before the U.S. becomes a final battleground between the Jaffa and Goa’uld?”

“Ex Deus Machina” (apparently a deliberate play on the familiar phrase “Deus ex machina,” “God from the machine”) will air in August on The SCI FI Channel. Check out GateWorld’s episode guide to learn more!
