Mallozzi teases SG-1 Season Ten

Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi is finally offering eager fans a veiled glimpse at some upcoming episodes of Stargate SG-1‘s record-breaking tenth season. In a new message at his GateWorld blog, Mallozzi discusses three episodes he is currently working on.

Beware of minor spoilers!

“I wrote up the four outlines over two days (Atlantis episode #2, ‘Morpheus,’ ‘Counter-Strike,’ and ‘Memento Mori’), then started work on ‘Morpheus’ which will be SG-1‘s second episode,” Mallozzi wrote. “It was a lot of fun but required a heady amount of research: Arthurian lore, Gwalchmei, the different stages of sleep, how the brain functions during sleep, and, of course, psychiatric evaluations.

Gwalchmei is a legendary Welsh hero who in Arthurian legend is seen to be Arthur’s nephew.

“With Vala on board for all of Season Ten, we have to ask ourselves: Why would she want to join Stargate Command? Why would we want her to join Stargate Command? And, of course, do we feel that we can trust her? All of these questions come up in this episode and are answered, temporarily at least.”

The episode currently titled “Counter-Strike” is slotted as the season’s seventh episode. “Lots of good emotion in this one, bonding, and a significant loss at episode’s end,” Mallozzi hinted. “I’m kind of concerned about the visual effects budget on this one and will look to trim a little in my next pass.”

The episode will likely be followed by “Memento Mori,” currently slotted as Season Ten’s eighth episode. In the late Middle Ages, a memento mori was a graphic depiction of the concept of death.

“This one will also be a lot of fun and [I] have already done a little research on memories, a certain war goddess from Cronos’s neck of the woods, and Caribbean deli menus.” In Greek mythology the very well-known goddess of war is Athena, who sprung fully grown from the head of her father Zeus.

As these episodes are in the very earliest stages of development, please note that this info — and working episode titles — are subject to change. We’ll continue to monitor the latest developments in GateWorld’s new Season Ten episode guide!
