The animated series consists of 26 episodes, of which only four have been previously released on DVD (pictured right). The full-series collection will be distributed by Shout! Factory Entertaiment in the United States (Region 1 – North America), and is on their schedule for a mid-2008 release.
Stargate Infinity is already available on DVD in Europe (Region 2). The 4-disc set was released in August, and carries a suggested retail price of £24.99 (currently a little over $50 U.S.). Fans in the U.K. and elsewhere with a Region 2 player can order the boxed set now from Amazon.co.uk
Just where does Infinity fit into Stargate mythology? The show was produced under license from MGM, but did not involve the writers and producers of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis and is not regarded as “canon.”
The series is set some 30 years after SG-1, when a decorated Stargate Command officer named Gus Bonner (voiced by Dale Wilson) is framed for a crime by a shape-shifting alien infiltrator. He must flee through the Stargate, and leads a team of young cadets who are trying to find their way home to Earth — and clear Major Bonner’s name.
No other details about the DVD release have been announced, and the time frame could be subject to revision and change. Stick with GateWorld for the latest, and check out our Stargate Infinity series guide for more info and pictures!
