The new SG-1 direct-to-DVD movie was beat only by the movie Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay — by fewer than 200 units, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, The Hollywood Reporter said. VideoScan is not a perfect measuring tool, as Wal-Mart (the nations number one DVD retailer) and Sam’s Club do not report to the tracking service.
The movies 21, Never Back Down, and Doomsday rounded out the top five.
Data on just how many units this accounts for is not yet available. But the opening is clearly very strong, and bodes well for future direct-to-DVD projects for the Stargate franchise. Stay tuned to GateWorld for the latest!
