The hit Canadian medical drama Transplant is coming back to the United States for another year. The show co-stars Stargate Atlantis actress Torri Higginson in a supporting role.
NBC has renewed Transplant for a second season, Deadline reports. While drama imports are more typically aired during the summer months, the show benefitted from the delay of the regular fall season on broadcast television (due to the impact of COVID on film and television production). Transplant debuted on NBC in September, and has averaged 7.7 million viewers per episode (including broadcast, time-shifted, and streaming viewership).
In fact Transplant is the #2 new scripted drama of the fall season (behind ABC’s Big Sky), according to The Hollywood Reporter.
North of the border the series airs on CTV, where it was the most-watched Canadian original series during its freshman year. The network renewed the show in June, following its first season finale.
Transplant stars Hamza Haq as Dr. Bashir “Bash” Hamed, a Syrian doctor who flees his war-torn country with his sister to build a new life in Canada. The show also stars John Hannah, Laurence Leboeuf, Jim Watson, and Ayisha Issa.
Higginson played Dr. Elizabeth Weir on Stargate Atlantis.
Viewers looking to catch up on the show can find Season 1 of Transplant now streaming on Peacock.

I started watching it. Not terrible. I keep expecting her to call the other guy Carson, that accent.
