SPOILER ALERT! More with Tom McBeath … but beware of spoilers for his upcoming episode of Stargate SG-1, “It’s Good To Be King!”
GateWorld: What can you tell us about “It’s Good To Be King?”
Tom McBeath: Well, you should see the costume. [Laughter]
GW: Oh, really?
TM: No one will come across this before this is aired? Well, anyway, we’re on some planet somewhere. I’ve been sent to some planet with a population on it, a small population. But they’re sort of back in medieval times — although they were a brighter civilization earlier on. They figured out a way to do some time travel stuff. Yeah, they can travel into the future, and they came back, a few of them, or something. A few of them have come back and they’ve put their prophecy on a wall. But it’s also the wall where the Goa’uld came in and enslaved them, and turned them into miners, and — digging underground and stuff.
So once the Goa’uld left they’ve resurfaced as this primitive tribe and they stay away from this area because it has a bad feeling to them. But I find this place and manage to decipher this wall and try to warn them about a natural disaster about to occur.
GW: So they can’t read it, but you can?
TM: Yes. And they take my advice and are saved from, I don’t know, a storm or something. And after that I become their leader, and then I become their king, even though I don’t want to be.
And then the Goa’uld are coming back because — see, if I knew all the in’s and out’s of the whole Stargate world I could tell you exactly what’s happening! But apparently things are collapsing around the universe somewhere. And the bad guys are having to go back to where they were before, and that means they’re coming back to this particular world. And this world has to be saved.
And he knows it’s prophesied that someone’s going to come and save them. And, low and behold, it’s the team, sure enough! And I should’ve known it would be them!
GW: Very cool, very cool. Definitely looking forward to that. Will scenes between Maybourne and O’Neill be minimal with his schedule, or will they try to go all-out and make use of him as much as possible?
TM: Well, he does show up in this episode. He does travel off Earth as a General. So, yeah — he’s going to be there, and we have a bit of time together, yeah.
GW: So fans will not be disappointed despite his shooting schedule?
TM: No, they won’t.
GW: Good, good.
