Two new Atlantis novels published

Fandemonium, the worldwide publisher of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis novels, has announced the publication of two brand-new original novels.

James Swallow, author of the previously published Stargate SG-1: Relativity and Stargate Atlantis: Halcyon, is back with a third original novel. Stargate Atlantis: Nightfall is described as such:

The rock of Aegis…

Deception and lies abound on the peaceful planet of Heruun, protected from the Wraith for generations by their mysterious guardian — the Aegis.

But with the planet falling victim to an incurable wasting sickness, and two of Colonel Sheppard’s team going missing, the secrets of the Aegis must be revealed. The shocking truth threatens to tear Herunn society apart, bringing down upon them the scourge of the Wraith. Yet even with a Hive ship poised to attack there is much more at stake than the fate of one small planet.

For the Aegis conceals a threat so catastrophic that the Atlantis team must risk everything to eliminate it from the Pegasus galaxy …

Also recently published is Stargate Atlantis: Angelus, by Peter J. Evans:

Fear to tread …

With their core directive restored, the Asurans have begun to attack the Wraith on multiple fronts. Under the command of Colonel Ellis, the Apollo is dispatched to observe the battlefront, but Ellis’s orders not to intervene are quickly breached when an Ancient ship drops out of hyperspace.

Inside is Angelus, fleeing the destruction of a world he has spent millennia protecting from the Wraith. Charming and likable, Angelus quickly connects with each member of the Atlantis team in a unique way and, more than that, offers them a weapon that could put an end to their war with both the Wraith and the Asurans.

But all is not what it seems, and even Angelus is unaware of his true nature – a nature that threatens the very survival of Atlantis itself …

  • "But all is not what it seems, and even Angelus is unaware of his true nature - a nature that threatens the very survival of Atlantis itself …"

    OMG! He's a vampire....

  • I have yet to read Angelus but Nightfall was awful - and I wasn't the only one who thought so, see Amazon reviews. No banter, flat characters, completely illogical decisions - and the author even got some hard facts wrong, like he wrote that the wormhole goes both ways. Uh. It was a bitter disappointment.

But I do have high hopes for Angelus.

  • I thought I would enjoy Nightfall and Angelus, but both books have fallen flat. I have not enjoyed any of the Atlantis books except Blood Ties and Mirror Mirror. I thin the authors should stick with SG-1 books. they are far more interesting. Perhaps if the authors would quit focusing on all the technical stuff and more on the characters and a plot they would be a better read.

  • I actually enjoyed all the SGA tie-ins except for Nightfall. That one was flat. But I loved, for example, Entanglement. But it's true that some of the authors who obviously prefer the SG-1 characters should stick with SG-1.

I'm glad that there are three more SGA books coming out this year, though.

  • I mostly liked Nightfall. I was unhappy with Angelus until the end; which made the book. I liked all the other books. I have never read Exogenesis and The Chosen because you can only find them on Amazon for like $100 or more...Does anyone know how to find a decently priced one of these books?!?!?!?!?!? I'd really like to read them.

  • @missingShep: I bought The Chosen at Barnes and Noble for $7.95. Don't think I'll buy Nighfall or Angelus tho.

  • I have read all of the SGA novels except Nightfall and really enjoyed most of them altho' I wasn't so keen on Halcyon. I found Angelus a bit heavy going -too much technical stuff and less emphasis on the characters for my liking. Reviews are putting me off getting nightfall so maybe I'll just wait for the next one!
