Eagle-eyed reader Craig just passed along some great news for Stargate fans in North America looking to pick up a deal on Stargate DVDs — especially Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series. Amazon.com’s daily “Gold Box”
Gold Box deals run for just a few hours each (six throughout the day), and give you an extra-big discount off Amazon’s already reduced prices. Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum have already passed by this morning.
As of this writing (1 p.m. Eastern), Stargate Atlantis: Season One is available for $19.99 (60 percent off). Three more details are coming up, and from the teaser descriptions, they sound like individual seasons of Atlantis.
But the mother load is Stargate SG-1: The Complete Series, the box that includes all 10 seasons of the show plus four more bonus discs — 54 discs that normally sells for a suggested price of $329.98. Today only it’s $131.99, 60 percent off (and $85 lower than Amazon’s normal price). (This deal appears to be running all day long.)
Gold Box deals are limited to one per customer, and there is a limited number of each item they will sell before closing it off.

I got my SG-1 complete series for $120.
I don’t have SGA Seasons 4 or 5, so I hope those get price cuts later.
Isn’t the Complete Series boxset just repackaged season releases? I’ve already got five seasons on DVD, I don’t want to spend twice as much as I would to get the other five separately to get duplicates of what I already have.
Best Buy has SGA season’s 1-4 for $16.99 and Season 5 for $34.99 which is $5 off the regular price everywhere else.
Columbia House has Stargate Atlantis season 5 for $29.99. I joined Columbia house so I could get SG-1 and Atlantis seasons.
I purchased the series a few months ago from Amazon for $99.00. It was on sale for about a day.
Just an FYI – here in the Seattle area they have all ten seasons of SG-1 and the first four seasons of Atlantis at the Renton Sam’s Club and each season (in the new slim-pack) is only $16. They had plenty available when I loaded up on the first 10 of SG-1 to replace the older (and three times as thick) original packaging.
I wouldn’t recommend the boxset 1-10 either. I went through around 5 different boxsets before I just gave up. Many of the DVDs are scratched. I have only played them up to season 3, so I have no idea if scratched means ‘uplayable.’ I hope not since its well past my return date. BTW MGM store emailed me that if I found a bad DVD they would replace it if I mailed it back to them. I have no idea if that is still being honored.
