The new site, of course, has a big emphasis on Stargate Universe. It boasts tons of new features including:
A new feature also lets you take a virtual 3D tour of the Destiny using Microsoft’s new Photosynth and Silverlight technologies. The tour currently includes a corridor and the new Gate Room itself. For the vigilant, Easter eggs are even hidden throughout the ship when you zoom in to examine the detail of walls, consoles, and the new Stargate.
There’s just a huge amount of new content to explore here, both for fans of SG-1 and Atlantis and for those of us who have been eagerly awaiting the lid to come off of Stargate Universe.
It’s the first step in the studio’s countdown to the October premiere of Stargate Universe, in preparation for an exclusive first-look at SGU footage at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July.
The panel is set for Friday, July 24 in Ballroom 20, which seats a whopping 4,000 people. MGM tells us that they are planning to screen a significant amount of footage from the show, which may never be shown to anyone again.
Joining the panel discussion (10:30 to 11:30 a.m.) are cast members Robert Carlyle, Brian J. Smith, Elyse Levesque, David Blue, Alaina Huffman, Jamil Walker Smith and Ming-Na, as well as series co-creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper.
Head over to Stargate.MGM.com to see the new site, and stay tuned to GateWorld for brand new Stargate Universe photos, video, and episode details — plus full Comic-Con coverage — this summer!

why they had to use Silverlight?
Why not?
Have you seen the photo synth work that was done, and the detail that you get? Could that be done with any other technology? The answer is a resounding 'No!'...
Awesome!!! The site looks absolutely amazing!!! Well done MGM!!!
And great job on the Destiny tour, Laurence!
I love the new site, which is not something I've been able to say for the official site before. The team did a great job, and I hope now that it's up that they can keep up the fresh content.
cool. the gate and symbols looks awesome!
It's a cool site! I am just jealous that they couldn't have done that for the previous Stargate shows.
i didn't check out anything sgu, but i watched some of the sg1 bloopers. cool! :D
Awww, come on MGM!
Bad enough us UK folks can't watch trailers, without you additionally blocking your entire website.

Yeah, even we cannuks can't browse to that site. Way to go MGM, alienate more visitors to your gate (pardon the puns)
It would be good if people OUTSIDE the US could actually visit it too. You know, these series do not just air in America. They really go from one disaster to another lately.
