Tune in tonight for another all-new episode of Stargate Universe! This week fans will see “Earth,” episode seven of Syfy’s hit new show. The episode features a guest appearance by Richard Dean Anderson’s Jack O’Neill, plus an appearance by pop recording artist Janelle Monáe (seen in the second clip below).
Here’s your early look! Watch out for significant SPOILERS below, particularly in Syfy’s full episode description …
From TV Guide:
General O’Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) wants Col. Young to implement a high-risk plan hatched by I.O.A. scientists that could possibly return the Destiny crew to Earth. Elsewhere, Eli and Chloe use the communication stones to visit their loved ones, culminating in a trip to a club.
From Syfy:
With the situation onboard the Destiny dire, General O’Neill and Home World Command orders Col. Young to execute a high risk plan concocted by the I.O.A. scientists which, in theory, could return the crew to earth. Col. Young tries to buy more time so that he can consult those on the ship whose lives are at stake. While using the communication stones, Camile Wray is approached by I.O.A. representative Dale Strom who suggests that she steer opinion on the ship in favor of the plan.
Eli and Chloe are allowed to use the communication stones to visit Earth and their loved ones for what may be the last time. Their homecoming is not what they expected and the two try to drink away their worries at a club (featuring Janelle Monáe), but are unable to ignore the looming fate of the Destiny that they have left behind.

“General O’Neill and Home World Command” …
Excuse me? I thought it was called Homeworld Security last time it was mentioned? Home World Command sounds like a mixture of the SGC and Homeworld Security. Did they dismantle the SGC under Cheyenne Mountain?
@darkthunder
Probably a typo when the episode synopsis was being written. I wouldn’t worry about it.
I don’t like Janelle Monáe. She reminds me of a Bond villian from one of the older Bond movies.
They dismantled the Stargate Command set to replace it with the SGU set. So they probably had to come up with a new command.
And technically, assuming Atlantis is still on earth, incoming wormholes would probably default to the Atlantis gate, essentially making it Stargate command by default anyways.
I thought I heard a rumor one time that they were planning to shut down the real Cheyenne Mountain anyways? I don’t know if its true or not…but if it is, then I guess that would also make sense as to why they moved Stargate Command somewhere else.
@Billz
Lemme guess. May Day from a A View to a Kill.
I see that you’ve added the schedule for Canada and Australia, but haven’t posted the news that SGU will begin airing in Latin America on November 25th with the first two-hour episode.
If I were watching the Sneak Peak without knowing anything about the show, I’d never guess it was a sci-fi series.
But then, maybe that’s the point?
Stargate:Clubbing! Now that’s the kind of science fiction that really makes you think!
It actualy makes me sad that the only thing I am looking forward to here, is Jack’s appearance. I just miss good old SG-1 SGA episodes…. :(
Likewise, Gaia.
If you were a civilian stranded on a spaceship and were given a chance to visit Earth for a while would you just sit around at Stargate command or make your time worthwhile and have some fun?
I’m so disappointed with this series so far, I’m also looking forward for Jacks appearance. So far they have repeated the same story twice, Sand and water. I hope this improves, I hope I see some action, something that would resembles SG. If this is what we are gonna see for the rest of the season, they might as well call it a different name and not use the franchise like this.
Tonight on SGU: ‘Porn 3’
(sigh) I guess I will need to use a screening program or do my typical speed read to skip over non helpful posts……never mind, cant believe I just let my temper get the best of me and sink to this low level
Actually besides one glaring scene, tonight’s show was pretty good. Eli is definitely my favorite character; I also liked the guy who always lands in the brig. I seriously dislike Scott; he should be kicked in the face.
@EvilSpaceAlien
Thats the one. Must be the hair or something.
Read the comments on the forum, it really sounds like folks are discussing some cheesy relationship drama, not a sci-fi show.
Alas, Stargate is no more.
@Sylvia:
Funny considering people are actually liking it saying there was great character development. They also stated that SGU is Stargate.
For the love of god please don’t turn this into the same argument that we’ve had on every SGU episode article thus far. Can we at least try and stay within the confines of this one episode this time round.
Honestly, if this is what people want to see in a Stargate show, then they have left me behind.
No hard feelings, just sadness.
Don’t let the Iris hit you on the butt on your way out. Seriously, are the haters still having conniption fits?! If its not for you then be gone!! Hell, I don’t like bestiality but I don’t hang out in bestiality forums complaining that its just not as goods as sex with humans. SGU is in the Stargate mythos but it isn’t SG-1 or Atlantis and it never will be. You guys wanted another SG-1 clone like Atlantis and instead you got something deeper, more mature and more thought provoking than you can wrap your little minds around and you… Read more »
@DarkElfa, since you so nicely bid me good bye, I think I’ll just have to come back!
See ya around.
Very good episode. Eli was great as usual. For those that dislike Scott, look at it from his point of view….he is basically second in command and MUST follow orders from his commanding officer no matter who gives them. I guess everyone has to have a character they “hate” which is such a strong word to use for fictional characters. I happen to like Scott, and will say it again, he is a young officer doing the best he can in a difficult situation. I actually like how Rush solved the issue with Telford….great job that he and Brodie pulled… Read more »
N.O.R.A.D has moved almost 7-8 Years ago its there is not much left in the real Cheyenne Mountain
I loved the episode… I thought it was great. Yes, it was very different than the stargate we’ve been used to for the last 15 seasons. But it’s still stargate, or is the big round thing in the middle of the ship they use to dial other stargates something else? I haven’t decided how i feel about Telford… His character is not what i expected, and I kinda like it. I’m not liking what he’s doing, but I like the surprise. One thing I am loving about this show… everybody is human and the way the charters are acting is… Read more »
@Scott Watson: If you were a civilian stranded on a spaceship and were given a chance to visit Earth for a while would you just sit around at Stargate command or make your time worthwhile and have some fun?
Uhm, no? Sorry, but I wouldn’t. There are dozens of people – including my body – in danger out there. I sincerely hope that I would show more integrity than that.
just watched it shame that I could click it through within 15 min I saw this Episode.
I offically quitting watching that Show. To much human interaction (Do we not have enough of that in RL here and in other shows?)
I strongly disliked that episode. Jack was a jerk. There was NO ONE in the episode who had much dialog that I found compelling. Young was being a creepy stalker, and getting someone else’s body drunk? Just lame. Time to add this to the list Glee is on, shows that had promise but managed to be not only “not great”, but actually actively unpleasant.
Funny thing arnoldrimmer, I was going to write, “I’m Checking OUT!” too. I’ve finally had it. I guess the ratings are good because people will watch anything on TV. It’s too bad the Jump the Shark site is gone because this jumped day one. Probably due to the ridiculous and hilarious steam pipe stargate. I still can’t stop laughing every time I see that one. After 5 episodes there is nothing that is any different from the initial Stargate’s fans 90210 assessment. It is the “younger, hip parody” from SG 200. In other words it is a joke. And there… Read more »
Curiosity got the best of me. I was visiting a friend, and was channel surfing while a late supper was being served. Accidentally came upon SPACE and SGU. What now? Eli is a friend with Benefits? Where’s the SciFi in Telford Boinking Young’s wife? WTF?? this is SciFi? Take an objective view, step back and really consider. What did happen on this episode, that makes it Stargate?? can anyone tell me? can anyone honestly tell me, that they are willing to have sex with a body swapped spouse ? (Sure for some of you, if the swappee is a hottie),… Read more »
I’m so glad we got rid of bubblegum SG-1 and Atlantis with those rubber faced aliens and too perfect heroes! Now we can delve into the hard hitting science fiction questions, like what happens when a vulnerable girl learns her friends don’t like her! Or what happens when someone else’s body is used to have sex! Deep and complex!
What they need more than anything is Dr Phil he will help them with all there problems. ROTFLMAO
This show should never have taken the SG name it has ruined everything. IMO LOL
Seriously when are you guys going to give it a rest.
@Scott Watson
They never will. They are typical fanboys who hate anything and everything that contradicts one single aspect of what they like.
Things can only be one way, theirs. Anything else that’s different deserves to be attacked.
One of them actually complains that there is “to(o) much human interaction”, like that was a bad thing.
Remind me, what did we like about SG 1 and SG A? Was it the schematics of the space ships or the human interation between Jack and Daniel and Sheppard and McKay?
I bet some of the haters have no idea what real SCIENCE FICTION is. Real SCIENCE FICTION isn’t staff blasts or “captain shields are down to 30%” or “sir our transporters are being jammed” garbage. That’s what SG1 and Atlantis turned into — set piece battles with no surprise and no new science fiction tropes. Science fiction isn’t devoid of what you guys call “emo” or sex. It isn’t devoid of relationships either. What science fiction is supposed to be is you take a trope, for example transporters, then examine the human reaction surrounding them. Science fiction is *not* science:… Read more »
Here here Strangecircus, very well said. I read a lot of SciFi and there IS sex in them, as well as ALOT of human interaction. I like this show because of the human element.
Where are all the fanboys who arrogantly said people don’t like Universe because it’s too intellectual and mature? Bet they feel stupid after watching an episode with clubbing, Chloe learning that no one likes her, and the introduction of at least two more love triangles.
Human interaction is good, excessive focus on who wants to bang who is boring as hell. Sex is fine, three love triangles after seven episodes is overkill. This trend is a smokescreen for poor characterization.
I like how Stargate now uses Apple (MacBook, Jack’s office scene) lol
After hearing that Jack would be coming back and that they would be trying to get Destiny back to earth, I actually made the mistake of thinking it might be a good episode. This was probably the worst of SGU so far. It was all about sex, relationships, boyfriend trouble and cheating. Col. Telford is doing Young’s wife. Young is having dreams about doing TJ. Wow so exciting!!! Apparently Chloe’s boyfriend cheated on her with her best friend. Chloe makes a pass at Eli. Man is this great scifi or what. I am just surprised they didnt show Scott nailing… Read more »
Quite interesting. Darren and David brought up in a podcast the scenario of: Couldn’t they use the power of a sun to dial Earth. That was a good question and I’m glad that that scenario was put to the test in this episode. But would if of worked if Rush hadn’t made it so that it wouldn’t?
p.s I got tired of the people bashing because they have nothing better to do and actually want to talk about things that happened in the episode.
urgh, if you want real sci-fi why are you whiners even watching TELEVISION ? pick up a fracking book if you want real sci-fi. And besides, sci-fi is not about conventions (see every tv show), but being open to elaborate thought experiments about the universe. In other words, quit being douchebags and read books for once instead of whining about how your TELEVISION show is out to make money and ratings (omg! shock! horror!).
I am sincerely sorry to any universe lover for what I am about to say. I really wanted to love this show, honestly, but it has gotten progressively worse since the pilot and I fear fifteen years of good television has come to an end. The sex is completely unessessary and and the age of 14 when I am watching this show with my family (who over the years have come to love stargate) I am shocked and ashamed that Brad and Rob would allow adult scenes to destroy the already simple and weak story lines universe has been presenting.… Read more »
I’m sure I have watched all the stargate episodes. I like the premise of this one but it’s moving to slow. I’m having trouble liking the main characters. Hope this changes soon. Also they need to start getting some control over the environment. The haven’t solved a problem yet.
@ Strangecircus: I don’t know what the heck you call Science fiction, but here are a few definitions:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Definitions_of_science_fiction
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_fiction
Just like putting Wrestling on Scifi, a different kind of fiction.
@michael Sacal, thanks for acknowledging that we ARE fanboys. I tried to post definitions from Wikipedia (Sorry StrangeCircus, there were no pictures to help explain) of what Scifi is, but it got modereration queue.
@krdstargate “Human drama is a PART of scifi, because it is a part of being human. But in order for something to be scifi, it should actually some sci fi in the show.” You mean like flying a space ship into a star? You do realize that all the human drama in the episode came out of that sci fi element, right? Had the plot of the episode not been about the three characters who were on Earth facing the possibility that they might die, then it’s unlikely that it would have dealt with Chloe’s boyfriend and Young’s wife. The… Read more »
Count me in among the haters. I agree with all the comments about the 90210 plot lines, but what really gets me is the total lack of military or common sense. They’re running around letting all these people tell family members who haven’t been vetted or signed non-disclosure agreements about the super-secret government project. In the case of the Senator’s wife, she came across as more than a little unstable to me, and Young’s wife is an almost-ex who has an obvious ax to grind. In real life this just ain’t going to happen. @michael Sacal, if this were REAL… Read more »
I’m curious as to what the naysayers would prefer Universe be like. Would you prefer it if they brought back the Replicators for the gazillion time after they defeated them for the gazillion time? Would you prefer they brought back the Asgard for the third time even though they died in SG1 and people complained when they came back in SGA? What is it that you want? More of the same? Don’t you get tired of that? This is not SG1 anymore than SGA was not SG1, this is its own thing as part of the SG universe (no pun).… Read more »
@Boddicea Re: The bulk of your post. You are making too many assumptions about whether or not the secondary characters like Young’s wife and Chloe’s mother did not sign NDAs. For all we know they did sign such documents. In regards to Chloe’s mother it is almost a certanty given her threat to go public with all she knows about the Stargate program. Given that both Chloe and her father were in on the going-ons of the program, there is no reason not to believe that the wife/mother was not part of the discussions, specially given that Chloe and her… Read more »
Personally, I just laugh at the people like Sylvia and US06154 who hate it yet they just keep watching and keep coming to the reviews here to have their say. Guys, either you hate it and are done, which means you shouldn’t have anything else to say here about it or you’re liars and you’re still watching the show in which case why are you watching a show you hate?! In fact, why are you posting about a show you hate and don’t watch?! I’m really confused here but no doubt US06154 will find another amusing way to dig himself… Read more »
@DarkElfa, As distasteful it is, people do watch train wrecks, earthquakes, Tsunami Distruction and ongoing war coverages and other human misery.. ;) but I digress. Can someone tell me Who, in Telford’s form, was knocking on Young’s Wife’s door, at the end of the episode? Is it Telford pretending to be Young going to get a quickie?
