Now that a decent amount of information has been released about the sophomore season of Stargate Universe (courtesy of writer-producer Joseph Mallozzi’s always entertaining blog), this week GateWorld has officially launched our guide to SGU Season Two.
This comes with the first four (working) episode titles for the 2010-2011 season:
“Intervention” is the season premiere, which is written by Paul Mullie and will be directed by Andy Mikita when production restarts in March. The episode will, of course, pick up where the 2-part Season One finale, “Incursion,” leaves off.
“Aftermath” is written by series co-creator Robert C. Cooper, while Mallozzi himself is writing the third episode of the season, currently titled “Awakenings.”
Mallozzi and Mullie have been promoted from consulting producers to executive producers for Season Two. Execs Brad Wright, Robert Cooper, and Carl Binder are also returning.
Binder’s first episode of the season is currently in the fourth position, titled “Pathogen.” It will shoot first when the cast and crew return in early March.
Throughout the year we use the episode guide to track every cast and crew quote, spoiler, photo, and bit of info we can find on the next 20 episodes. You’ll always find the very latest there, even when it doesn’t make it onto GateWorld’s front page. And after a new episode is broadcast, of course, we’ll update the guide with a complete summary, transcript, screencaps, related Omnipedia links, a blow-by-blow analysis, and more.
Season Two is expected to premiere in the U.S. in October. Meanwhile, Stargate fans have 10 more episodes of Season One to enjoy! The season resumes April 2 on Syfy in the U.S., and probably around the same time in the U.K. and Canada.
“Awakenings”? Sounds like we’re going to see some aliens. Hopefully.
Awakenings? Appropriate since I’m on record as having fallen asleep in the first 5 episodes (soon available on DVD). LOL
Don’t worry Mentat; I went on record claiming that season 1 episode titles were one word titles, and that season 2 episode titles would be 2-word titles etc, much the same as happened in LaFemme Nikita. Alas it appears now all titles regardless of how many seasons SGU make will be single-word titles.
Believe it or not, I welcome the dvds as I have a hearing problem and relish to read the subtitles of each episode so I can at least “hear” what happened in SGU.
Ep 11 will air in Australia on April 9th, at 8:30pm on Syfy (Old name – Sci-Fi Channel) -> Australia…
Yes it looks like March will see the Sci-Fi name gone from Australia and Syfy put in its place…
Am I the only one who thinks what should awaken is a Wraith with a Goa’uld inside it?
And here I thought this borefest wouldn’t make it to Season 2. And now there’s Caprica as well. What happened to the good shows on SciFi? Ah, I forgot, it’s no longer SciFi, it’s “SyFy.” It’s hip, it’s cool, and it’s throw-away trashpra.
@AgamemnonV1
I give up. What were the good shows on Sci-Fi? Painkiller Jane?
@AgamemnonV1
Well that’s subjective. In my opnion Caprica and SGU are two very good sci fi shows.
@cupermacleod
Flash Gordon :P
sgu need to step up to the mark as it very boring and a let down
I admit that SGU is different in style than SG1 and Atlantis, but it is certainly not boring or a let down.
SGU is for is a disgrace to stargate and to science fiction in general.
One thing to remember though is that the producers filmed almost the entire season 1 before even a single episode aired.
Meaning, once they received hordes of harsh criticism, they could not really respond, since episodes were already filmed.
In season 2 however they were already highly aware of the criticism, so it’s their chance to make things better.
For the more patient of you, it may be worth checking out.
@gigitravels I’ve given up on season 1 but there may be hope for season 2. I don’t think the show will run beyond that, not with the poor ratings it’s pulling in so far.
@Imitation Tofu
The ratings aren’t poor. They’re certainly not fantastic, but they are decent.
The ratings are not what the producers or the network wanted them to be. The poorer the ratings the more the spin and universe has had lots of spin.
@Imitation Tofu You can’t determine how poor the ratings are by how much spin there are. If that were the case, all shows would have “poor” ratings. While they were not as good as what the producers and the network has expected, the ratings are still good (but not great), and it preforms better than SGA season 5. You may not like that I’m comparing SGU’s first season to SGA’s fifth, but it’s no different than comparing SGA season 5 with season 4. You compare the ratings of the current season to the previous season of the franchise, and that… Read more »
It’s absurd to compare the ratings of a brand new show with fresh advertising and cast to a show that was on its 5th year. It’s nothing like comparing the 4th and 5th season. What an illogical argument. Only the people who want to believe that universe’s ratings are good are playing this spin game.
Wewll, SGU has already had the lowest ratings for any episode of Atlantis. “Justice” tanked at 1.3 Live+7 and Im not counting DVR+7 because they werent counted for Atlantis. But the TREND of ratings is downward from the highest of 2.3 for the opening of SGU, and that is nowhere near the opening numbers for SG-1 OR Atlantis. Season 1 is a wash, since the rest of the season is “in the can” and cant be changed. Hopefully, season 2 will benefit from “adjustment” due to the horrible criticisms voiced about the series so far, as well as the dismal… Read more »
I really just don’t like the show so far. I feel no empathy for any of the characters. There’s no reason to root for any of them. I guess I’m just one of those people who prefers my sci-fi shows to be character and plot-driven rather than technology-driven. The only episodes I’ve liked so far have been the series premier and Time. Hopefully the next season will give the viewers a reason to actually root for the characters they’re watching.
Ummm… are the people making Stargate just skipping along their merry way not paying attention to fan reception of this show? Are they paying attention to ratings? I feel like no one running Stargate even cares, do they not realize how disappointed their veiwing base is with the garbage that is SGU? Sex scenes (what the heck Stargate… I was watching this with my parents! NOT what I was expecting from Stargate), no chemisty between the characters, etc.. I could go on and on. We didn’t just like Stargate because of the round thing they stepped through. I was really… Read more »
It just makes me sad that the shows I watched with my dad growing up have been replaced by Jersey Shore in Space. Stargate has always been family-friendly with tongue-in-cheek humor. I know I should still give it a chance–and I will–but I cannot quite adjust to these cardboard cutouts of characters and their sex lives.
I am a huge Stargate fan! I love the original SG-1 series (though the final 2 seasons were a little disappointing to me!) and even found Atlantis somewhat enjoyable. While it may be in critical condition, I think there is still some hope of saving SGU. The writers are trying something quite different with Universe, and I admit even I haven’t quite gotten used to it yet! In general though, they have a cool concept. My biggest problem with SGU is this ridiculous split season!! WTF? Especially if they already have the episodes “in the can” WHAT are they WAITING… Read more »
We have had 15 great seasons of SG-1 and Atlantis. Isnt that enough? They cant keep making that kind of show forever its not possible. Im not saying SGU dosent have problems (I also dont like chloie very much) but the series is still great in its own way. If you wanted a carbon copy of SG-1 too bad.
The Stargate is the single best prop any show could ever hope for! Step through, and there is a myriad of different adventures and possible plot lines limited only by the imagination (and the show’s budget of course!). I submit that it IS possible to keep on cranking out the kind of quality programming that captures the imagination of audiences everywhere in the tradition of SG-1 and Atlantis. Grabbing our attention takes good character development and clever plot lines that form bonds between these characters, giving the audience a sense of involvement in their lives and adventures. Im not sure… Read more »
