Creation Chicago convention arrives this month

August is right around the corner, and with it comes the return of America’s largest Stargate convention.

Creation Entertainment will hold their annual Official Stargate Convention in Chicago next month.  The three-day event, being held at the Westin O’Hare, will run from August 27 to August 29.

Both in terms of celebrity guests this year and attendance totals from previous years, Creation’s Chicago convention is the nation’s largest dedicated strictly to the Stargate franchise.  In addition to having more attendees than any other stop on their yearly tours (surpassing even Los Angeles and Vancouver), this year’s edition will sport no fewer than twelve seperate celebrity guests — a new record for the “Windy City.”

The con kicks off on Friday, August 27th with appearances on the main stage by Robert Picardo (“Richard Woolsey”), Christopher Heyerdahl (“Todd”), Andee Frizzell (“Wraith Queen”) and Steve Bacic (“Camulus”).  But even after the con closes for the evening, there is more fun scheduled.  Picardo is scheduled to host a karaoke party free to all convention-goers.  And before he takes the stage the next day, Jason Momoa (“Ronon Dex”) — fresh from finishing his recent “Conan” feature film shoot — will put on a concert of his own.

The fun continues on Saturday.  In addition to a full stage appearance by Momoa, he’ll be joined by his fellow Atlantis co-stars Joe Flanigan (“Col. John Sheppard”) and David Hewlett (“Rodney McKay”).  Convention staple Michael Shanks (“Daniel Jackson”) will also be on hand during the day.

The con finishes on Sunday with stage appearances by members of the Stargate Universe cast.  Elyse Levesque (“Chloe Armstrong”), Brian J. Smith (“Lt. Matthew Scott”) and Alaina Huffman (“Tamara Johansen”) are all scheduled to appear.  Dan Shea (“Sgt. Siler”) will serve as emcee of the convention for the entire three days.
