Syfy Channel has released its broadcast schedule for November, including five brand new episodes of Stargate Universe Season Two! This should take us up to the mid-season finale of SGU, “Resurgence,” at the end of the month.
Stargate fans will also continue to see weeknight repeats of Stargate Atlantis (at 5 p.m. E/P) and Stargate SG-1 (6 p.m. E/P).
Here’s what is ahead on SGU:
November 2 – Trial and Error
November 9 – The Greater Good
November 16 – Malice
November 23 – Visitation
November 30 – Resurgence
Since the show has moved to Tuesdays this season, that means no traditional Thanksgiving holiday. Syfy typically programs Wednesday through Friday of the U.S. holiday week differently to account for lower viewership, saving new episodes until December.
That means SGU will finish up its fall season at the end of November this year, rather than early December. The show will likely return with the back ten episodes around the first week of April.
Meanwhile, Syfy has announced that its new dramatic series Being Human will premiere in January (13 episodes). That series is a reimagining of the hit BBC3 series from the U.K.
Atlantis‘s weeknight airings next month will take the show from the middle of Season Two (“Grace Under Pressure”) to early Season Three (“Sateda”). SG-1 will run several Season Two episodes (from “The Gamekeeper” to “The Fifth Race”).
And there’s one all-day marathon on the schedule right now, on November 4. We’ll be watching an SG-1 Season Six marathon from 8 a.m. (“Nightwalkers”) till 4 p.m. (“Unnatural Selection”).
Take a peek at the full schedule here (subject to change).
Of course, new episodes of Stargate Universe continue to air Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. (E/P) on Syfy! Tune in next Tuesday for the fourth episode of the new season, “Pathogen.”
End of November to April. Well if that don’t kill the show I don’t know what will.
I wish Syfy would stop these mid-season breaks for you americans. Given MGM’s recent announcment, having a mid-season break cannot be good for the crippleing company.
I know it’s a “tradition” to have mid-season breaks in Stargate (Steve Moffet is doing the same thing for season 32/6 of Doctor Who next year, and we hate him for it), but come on Syfy! I know the Syfy CEO hates sci-fi, but that is no reason to help kill a franchise (Stargate) and a production company (MGM) with these mid-season breaks!
Holyyyy crap! End of November to April?! That should be the news headline :/
What. Are. They. Thinking!?
Time goes by so fast the new season just started and the end of next month will close the first 10 episodes.
For some reason the break between seasons is shorter than the one at mid-season. You would think it would be the opposite.
Other shows that started airing during the fall, typically will end around November as well. But they return in January-February. Why does SyFy insist on bringing SGU back in April? If the ratings aren’t in the toilet before November finale, it WILL BE by April.
I am a big supporter of SGU, Stargate in general and Space in Canada. But the break in the midseason is very very gratuitous
The long breaks are death for a show like this.
I’d rather see them put in a few weeks of repeats here and there and stretch out the season which would also shorten the gap betwee 2.0 and 2.5.
5 month break???? SGU is still recovering from last mid-break
Should be a 4-month break, like the last two: December, January, February, March.
I don’t think this will kill the series, after all, SG-1 and Atlantis did this for SG-1’s final seasons and all but Season 5 of Atlantis… and Atlantis and SG-1 had the infamous “internet leak” when SkyOne in the UK and Movie Network in Canada aired them well before SyFy. I think April will do us some good, since it will be able to air it’s final episodes (and the Atlantis crossover) during a time of the year new television isn’t big 12 million+ viewer shows.
trial and error. not the best title for an episode on this show. or is it?
Can just someone do a google calendar for the show, i mean, come on, i want my android to tell me SG-U is ON.
THAT would be cool.
i would have though with all the others shows airing and being close to the end, that it would be the worst time of the year
i mean, aren’t the last episodes of a show the mostly viewed ???
but i guess there must a good reason
Excuse me, but *clears throat*
WHY IS THERE A FIVE MONTH LONG BREAK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!?
And they WONDER why ratings are so bad!
@Greenfire32 I believe Darren stated that it’s a 4 month break not a 5 month break.
Considering that USA Network’s shows go on a similar break – White Collar’s mid-season finale aired at the beginning of September, it doesn’t return till January and only for 7 episodes at that – and they still do well, maybe it’s the show and not the break’s fault when it tanks?
@Chevron Atlantis Thank you for pointing out the obvious for those that can’t seem to count. Five episodes in November means that ALL of November has episodes. December, January, February and March none and the first Tuesday in April has an episode. Hmmmm, I also count four months. :) But, with only 20 episodes, this is just to long of a period of time. I too would rather wait longer between seasons and have little or no break between the 2.0 and 2.5. 24 scheduled their airing so that there weren’t breaks even if they had to wait more than… Read more »
I ALWAYS DVR SGU…. does this really hurt the ratings??? I watch the episode and they save it to watch right before I see the next one.
I do not understand the low ratings, This show is awesome… It was a little slow in the beginning, but now that the ground work is laid, it is moving great!!!
