The title makes it sound like a ghost story.
Well we know something is wrong. Something is always wrong. And ghosts may be accurate. After all, TJ’s baby ended up with them.
Whats going to be interesting is if TJ’s baby really is with them or not and how she will deal with the outcome of their return.
the thing is we wont find out if TJ’s baby is really there as the writers did say they had not touched on that storyline in the episode but it will be interesting to see how they have got back to destiny from the faith planet if they are really there that is
Every Stargate fan watch live tonight!!!!
It seems like the episode’s purpose was to tie up a loose end. Nothing new or exciting here. Next week looks promising however.
Have to agree with Wartsttocs, though too add that it also primed the story for Chloe. Heck this might have been a episode suited for holloween, not two days before Thanks giving. I have to admit, I liked the scene where Gheer came to talk to Chloe to ask for forgiveness for what he knew he was going to have to do, thought that was a nice touch and have to wonder how many people would actually do that if in a similar situation. I also liked the scene where it showed the “green house” room was being repaired though… Read more »
this eppy will prob dip below 1 mil viewers
@ Eagalis
Ratings are based on viewers, not quality. If anything, “Resurgence” is the episode that’s going to suffer ratings-wise, since last week’s episode was great! Hopefully, people will still give it a chance because it’s the mid-season finale.
people not watching = bad quality …. a good episode/tv series = good ratings please do tell me why ratings aren’t based on the quality of an episode please do.
Hm, I do think that “quality” is subjective. I think that ratings are mostly based on the “mass appeal” of a show. SGU just doesn’t appeal to masses. It’s a niche show and unfortunately, so far, the niche has been growing smaller and smaller.
@Eagalis because people not watching=bad quality is simply wrong math,or logic,whatever
What Evilslayer meant was that bad quality of an ep influences more the ratings of the next one..is that simple enough,or does that have to be explained as well?
@ waveuponwave… you think that the Chloe and TJ thing isn´t Scifi worthy?? WoW, because it has so much Scifi in it. I lieked this episode. The whole atmosphere was awesome. Death people returned with their personality.
This would have been a good episode… If they had picked up the pace already and weren’t still lagging so far, this would have been an episode I would have recommended people see. This would have been a good second episode for the season if the show had progressed at a better pace. Standing alone, I’d say this was actually the best episode of the show so far. They did mention the baby and it would have been a terrible oversight for them not to. Regardless of whether it should have been in the story to begin with, she thought… Read more »
Just from reading the synopsis at Stargate Wikia I’m at awe at how awesome this episode sounds and I’m eager to watch it later today.
So, can we infer that the baby did in fact die and his soul is wherever the others’ souls went to (the nebula maybe)?
TJ must have had a near-death experience and that is how she ended up with the others in their idealized version of the Eden-like planet.
I enjoyed this episode too. Maybe the episode’s purpose was to tie up a loose end(faith planet people). Hmm I can’t wait for the next episode! :)
… and I forgot to mention the shuttle.
Visitation was an awesome episode. I loved the scene with Greer and Chloe. Would like to see more Young and TJ. SGUs episodes are getting better and better. Being a huge fan of SG-1 and SGA I have to say I wasn’t sold on the series at first but now I love it. Better be renewed for a 3rd season. Would love to see it go about 5 seasons at least. Loving all of the Ancient’s backstory with Destiny being explained bit by bit. These characters are becoming favs just like the both series before. Can’t wait for the mid… Read more »
@michael Sacal – Actually, we can’t really infer anything about the baby from the episode. When dealing with beings that can make what happened happen, assumptions would be even further skewed than normal. I just hope that this all has something to do with SGU’s grand design and isn’t just something used to fill in the story.
Well, if the events from Visitation as summarized at the Wikia can be believed (and there’s no reason they shouldn’t), then what actually happened to the people on the planet contradicts what TJ experienced, so the only possible explanation is that as she and her baby were dying her soul/conciousness traveled to wherever the others’ conciousness were. I do think this will tie into the overall arc. Rush definitely traveled to Destiny to uncover the secret to Ascension (he made that much clear in Time). These aliens will probably offer him an alternative to that. He first needs to become… Read more »
@michael Sacal – Actually, no, that’s not the only possible explanation. I could list several others. Possibility, plausibility and likelihood do not equal absolutes. That being said, what you say above is possible, plausible and may even be likely. But as I said before, assumptions about something of this magnitude are even more likely to be incorrect than most other assumptions.
What good did the “aliens” do by sending them back just so they could die “again”? Getting a refurbished shuttle was handy. This show continues to be underwhelming and it is obvious that the low audience numbers are going to soon make the choice inevitable. SyFy (still hate the new spelling) is hopeless and continues to disappoint almost as much as their shows and especially their movies (Sharktopus? Give me a freakin’ break!)
My ideal series finale has Destiny with all the crew on board hitting a star without shields. Now THAT would be entertaining.
Things I want to see.
1) Actually using the stargate.
2) Aliens. Not Flashes of light.
3) Guns, offship battles. A recurring threat. Not once every 8 episodes.
4) More actual sci-fi speak.
Things I want to see less of:
1) THE BABY!
2) Chloe.
3) Crying.
4) Sex.
Does that make it simple enough for you?
Gues it can be considered a filler ep but let’s remember this show is intended to be more serialized. This past ep went deeper into Greer and showed insights into his relationship with Lt Scott and focused on TJ and Chloe too. You may want more gate turning and space battles but it’s all be set up to play out. SG-1 seemed to be a prefect mix of everything and Atlantis was a great show but kinda went overboard with space battles and gate action.getting the right balance to satisfy everyone can be really hard. From what I’ve read there… Read more »
@waveuponwave – But how do you really feel?
@waveuponwave: I almost consider chloe a guest character at this point, and I like it that way, hasn’t been much crying, and there hasn’t been any sex for at least 15 episodes, and I don’t mean the “You Are Here” shirt crumpled on the bed. The show has been getting away from that stuff this season and getting back a little closer to what we’re used to, hopefully not all the way back, because I like the change of pace. There has always been sci-fi “speak”, aliens, not every episode, and I’m fine that the stargate is’nt used every episode.
@waveuponwave
Not every bottle episode (meaning an episode that takes place on a standing set) can have the majesty and wonder of a classic bottle episode like “Hathor”… :P
@michael Sacal LOL!! @mythos I agree wiih pretty much everything you said about the ep,so I won’t repeat it.I had an issue with the ending as well,also the only one,but I hope that too will be further explained and picked upon in the future episodes..the other stuff from this ep,I’m pretty sure is going to be included and is the part of the overall arc..the planet,the obelisk on it,the aliens more powerful and on a higher plane of existence than the Ancients… I don’t think however that those aliens are so powerful that they can offer Rush an alternative to… Read more »
Of course you can express your opinion. Others disagree with it and are expressing their reasons why.
@Jim – I’m not so sure that we actually will see more ties to the aliens of the planet from Visitation. I don’t think they’re the pre-big bang intelligence that’s being sought and since the people are no longe ron the planet, there’s not much purpose to having them involved again. I think they were more meant to show what could be out there. I’m obviously not sure of all of this but there really doesn’t seem a reason to bring them back into it.
I scanned over some of the longer posts, but I have not seen anyone mention what could have been a mistake in the story…….WHY DID CAINE DIE???? They said the people from the planet were dieing because they were already dead, when the aliens transported them, and they were all dieing in order of when the originally died. BUT Caine was NOT DEAD when the were transported. He was still alive on the Keno when the transport happened. ALSO I cannot think of a single reason why the aliens would return the people. I can’t accept that the aliens LET… Read more »
@bum783: It was just a filler to get the shuttle back, and let us know what happened to the people left behind. And I read somewhere that Caine died off screen when the light showed up on the kino feed. Even though it was a filler, it was still entertaining, and I enjoyed it.
@bum783
For all we know the aliens thought that they had revived them for good, and their dying was just a consequence of their reviving them “wrong”, not on purpose.
God-like aliens work in mysterious ways :P
@bum783
Chances are Kane was past the point he could be saved, ie the cold had done its damage and he was going to die regardless. The aliens basicly got there in time to see a living dead man if you will.
I seriously doubt the aliens returned them out of the goodness of their hearts. A more practical answer would be that they had learned all they could from the crew that stayed behind and returned them to their group, much like how a scientist returns a rat to the cage once he’s done with it for the time.
@mythos I don’t know niether,but there is noe reason why we wouldn’t see and discover about those aliens more,especially since we’ve seen they aren’t limited by the vastness of the space between galaxies,possibly not limited by space ar all..and regarding why they brought back the people,it seemed to me it was more of an experiment on the living and their reaction,not bringing rats back to the cage,or not just that,at least. And the superseized obelisk has to have had some meaning,other than just being there. I don’t know,but after this ep I feel that the god like aliens are aware… Read more »
@bum783 – Actually I mentioned Caine not having died 2 days prior and mine was one of the longer posts. I’m hurt. :P As for not believing that they returned them to let them say goodbye, it’s entirely plausible. Beings of such power would have their own reasons for doing what they did. It may have been intentional, may have been a mistake or may have had a purpose which is not presently clear. I don’t have a lot of faith in the show adequately explaining things so it could also have had no purpose. Plot holes have been fairly… Read more »
@Jim – I’m not saying that we definitely won’t hear of them again, just that there’s no definitive reason for them to be mentioned again. The ship has traveled so much further and never come by any indication of them again.
To Mythos “The ship has traveled so much further and never come by any indication of them again.” I wish I could believe this. One thing that I have noticed is in SG1 and Atlantis they painted a picture that traveling between galaxies is not easy. For one the Ancients from the Milky Way were able to remain hidden from the Ori. The ori chose to build a supergate as opposed to just traveling there. AND they used a bridge to link the Milky Way to Pegasus. That would suggest that many to most races the Destiny would encounter could… Read more »
