Syfy Channel is developing a spin-off of its highest rated original drama, Warehouse 13, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
The series will follow the 1890s adventures of H.G. Wells, a recurring character in the show’s second season played by Jaime Murray.
“While it is still in the early stages and thus subject to change, the idea is to put Wells in a 1890s steampunk environment,” the site reports. “Despite Warehouse 12’s efforts to recruit her, she would remain a free agent who uses her knowledge of contemporary science to solve murders and other mysteries.
“In this incarnation, she would enlist the help of a mechanical engineer and utilize her relationship with the police commissioner to solve what appear to be unsolvable cases. Both the skills and style she employs will become the framework for the well-known stories of H.G. Wells, as written by her brother.”
The project is being developed by Warehouse 13 showrunner Jack Kenny and another writer. Warehouse 13 averaged 3.4 million viewers last summer (which would include DVR-delayed viewing), according to the Reporter.
Also on Syfy’s development slate in the scripted drama category is Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome (which is currently producing a pilot for the network and hasn’t been greenlit to series yet), and Alphas, which premieres its first season on Mondays this July.
Warehouse 13 returns with its third season on July 11.

A female H.G Wells? o.O
Don't get me wrong, the few episodes i've seen of Warehouse 13 were pretty good. Also a big fan of Eureka. But... to change the gender of a historical figure, seems to be a... stupid thing to do.
Would rather see a Eureka spinoff, or in the very least, proper full-length seasons, without 9 month hiatuses.
Love it. The female H.G Wells character is one of my favorite in the Warehouse 13 series. I can't wait to see this series and see how it goes.
I guess I should start watching W13 when I run out of Eureka DVDs
they canceled SGU for this....
Warehouse 13 for those who don't know is set in the same universe as Eureka, which would also make this Warehouse 13 spin-off in that same universe.
Also, re: H.G. Wells. They did this last year and very well, they hired a great actress to play her who was fun to watch. The story goes that her brother was the writer writing under her name.
I cant believe this. SGU should have been ran in the summer months and this show durring the fall season. Which one would have better ratings. I know this one would be gone after one season. Nice move SYFY this is why SGU was canceled. You suck SYFY you lost this veiwer im wrong take 5 people off your ratings. I have 4 boys and myself watching SGU to you its only one veiwer wrong its 5 so long SYFY.
dont count me in to watch this, im done with that channel.
Cool! Sounds like a bit of good fun... now who wants to bet how long until the Sanctuary crossover? The Sanctuary characters are all old enough... it'd be awesome!
I nerd out like crazy over shared universes, so I'm all for this.
W13 - I saw the first few episodes and that was that.
Not the biggest fan of santuary but I watched allot more than a few episodes.
And were are the Stargate News in that?
