Report: Jason Momoa cast in new Stallone film

Stargate Atlantis‘s Satedan warrior has hit the big time. From a key role in HBO’s acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones to headlining a feature film remake of Conan the Barbarian later this summer, actor Jason Momoa (SGA‘s Ronon Dex) has reportedly been cast in the new Sylvester Stallone film. This according to Latino Review.

Previously titled Headshot, the film follows a hitman (Stallone) and a cop (Sung Kang, Fast Five) who form an alliance to hunt down the man who killed their partners — an assassin named Keegan, played by Momoa. The story is based on a French graphic novel called The Killer, written by Alexis Nolent and adapted for the screen by Alessandro Camon.

Sarah Shahi (Fairly Legal) also co-stars.

The film will be directed by Walter Hill (Deadwood, Supernova) for Warner Bros. and is expected to begin filming in Louisiana this month, according to Screen Rant.  IMDb currently lists the title as Bullet In the Head.

Game of Thrones, meanwhile, just concluded its first season on HBO with a record 3.07 million viewers for Sunday’s finale.  Jason talks about the end of the season in a new interview with Access Hollywood (beware of major SPOILERS).  Conan opens in theaters on August 19.

  • OK, the source material is being "made again."

I take "remake" to be a fluid and inoffensive term. "Reboot," on the other hand ...

  • good to see a sg actor gettin bigger parts first conan now this if it keeps up ronon dex might not be in the sga movie that is if it ever gets made

  • OUT OF FREAKING NOWHERE--

    --It's Jason Mamoa

You all thought I was going to say David Hasselhoff didn't you?

  • Actually I am happy for him. It isn't everyday you hear of a Science Fiction Actor (and I include Bay Watch, because NO ONE has bodies like that, so that is fiction)makes it to the big time. I just wish Joe Flannigan, David Hewlett and the others were this successful. And here is a question. The first thought I had was a reboot of Cobra, but what script is this a reboot of?

  • I just dig out my password for article comments to say that Jason has been *amazing* in Game Of Thrones as Khal Drogo (if you a little bit in pseido historical fantasy, *watch* it, it's production's pasion's value equals with SGU). Yes, I'm certain that Atlantis gave him very good starting platform. I would like to point it out that David also have had several good gigs lately.

So yes, I have a little pride that Brad and team discovered him before big guns did.
