Swords, snakes and sex … and a hell of a lot of barbarian combat! That’s what you’ll find in the impressive new, full-length trailer for Conan the Barbarian — much improved over that smokey teaser released in March.
The new feature film stars Stargate Atlantis‘s Jason Momoa in the title role. Watch the trailer below!
Directed by Marcus Nispel, Conan co-stars Rachel Nichols,Stephen Lang, Rose McGowan, and Ron Perlman. The movie opens wide on August 19, 2011.
Also remember to catch Jason as the warrior leader Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, now airing Sunday nights on HBO.
must watch.
Jason looks gorgeous and the movie looks beautiful. That said, not really my kind of movie. Happy for Jason, though and hope his career takes off after this!
Will go to a cinema for sure!
Can definitely say that the new trailer is a big improvement over previous trailers. I’ve also been really enjoying A Game of Thrones on HBO. Momoa has really hit the big time here, Game of Thrones is doing quite well and I’m sure Conan will get reviewed well. From Atlantis, he seems to be the actor in the spotlight most right now!
Just remember though, we found him first!
Looks like nothing but a glorified b-movie, Im a bit disappointed in Rose McGowan signing on to this :/
Looks like an awesome re-make of the Arnold Schwarzenegger original. I don’t get HBO but I hear “Game of Thrones” is doing well too. Looks like Jason’s career is really taking off. Good for him. Congratulations and all the best.
Oh dear…
@xandder
Rose McGowan is a B-movie actress so i really dont understand why you’re disappointed :P
This is a good old fashioned Action movie, with probably very little in the way of plot or emotional depth – So definitely will watch. They should really have made SGU like this, it might have got more viewers :/
Really great that Momoa’s career has kicked off. Havent seen Game of Thrones yet, but heard nothing but good things.
@SomeVeryRandomStuff
Rose McGowan is very much an indie kind of actress, there’s a clear difference, just like Parker Posey, Indie films. This flim looks exactly like a Syfy movie of the week film, just with a slightly bigger budget. But hey, the fact that you like films that ‘probably have very little in the way of plot or emotional depth’ kinda says it all tbh
@Browncoat1984
we didn’t find him first he was on baywatch before atlantis
Hope it’s closer to Robert E Howard’s writing than the abysmal Arnie ones were (which utterly butchered REH’s writing). Conan should be Lovecraftian-Fantasy as REH depicted as.
@xandder: Yes, for an actress from “Planet Terror”, a Hollywood blockbuster is a step downwards. Right.
Anyways. Looks great. I think Jason is the perfect choice for Conan. Makes me want to re-read the books.
“Just remember though, we found him first!”
No, we didn’t. His career didn’t start with Stargate.
In any case, this movie looks awful, and has “fail” written all over it.
Well, it looks better than “Fight Of The Titans” and Momoa can deliver emotions much better (however trailer is low on details about story) :) They have spent good money on effects too. If done right, this will be a hit. Will see.
It is not on my top list, but I will watch it, because I and my girlfriend love some historical fantasy and action fun.
p.s. I love that SGU is nothing like this movie. We need different stories for different times and places.
Btw, yeah, Momoa had a good wibe before Atlantis, but SGA was first place where he got regular screen time, good scripts and character with solid backstory. He was really good. It is good to see that he and David Hewlett is moving on and have some acting done on silver screen.
This looks better than expected, to be honest.
