Stargate and Firefly actress Jewel Staite is adding another genre favorite to her resume. Staite will guest star in the third episode of Supernatural this fall, the fantasy show’s seventh season.
She’ll play Amy, one of Sam’s (Jared Padalecki) childhood friends who he encounters on a hunt, according to Zap2It.
The episode is currently filming in Vancouver, and is directed by series star Jensen Ackles.
Staite played Dr. Jennifer Keller for two seasons on Stargate Atlantis.
Her Supernatural episode is tentatively set for October 7 on The CW. Staite will also be signing autographs for fans in Toronto at the Polaris event on Sunday, July 17.

Uh oh…I’m sensing a million Keller-haters rushing to this news post to tell us all how much they hated Keller and couldn’t hardly care less about what Jewel is doing after Stargate.
Luckily, I’m not a Keller-Hater. Glad to see she’s still out there doing her thing.
I liked Keller too and I think the Keller haters are over-reacting to a FICTIONAL character. Jewel Staite is a wonderful actress and a beautiful woman, I’ve enjoyed her in everything I’ve seen her. I remember watching her on the X-Files and Nicolodeon’s Space Cases or whatever that kids show was as a kid. Of course, then she wasn’t as popular as she was now so when I found out she was on both of those shows I was like “I watched them both!” Don’t really remember anything about that kid’s show though. Jewel Staite needs a better agent. She is a good, if not great, actress but she’s become typecast in genre television and she can do much better than Supernatural guest roles.

I love the actress and am a huge Browncoat as well!It is awesome to see all of them have work and to see how close they’ve remained after only 14 eps of Firefly.But Jewel really does deserve more,I won’t say beter.

Hey, I love Jewel, her food blog is a wonderful thing and I loved her as Kaylee on Firefly. Just because I never appreciated the Keller character doesn’t mean I’m not a big fan of the actor.

It’s not so much she’s being typecast in genre roles, but rather all the good acting work up here in Canada is genre work.

btw, this is Stargate news: Previous Stargate actors advancing their career. Personally I like to know what they’re up to, I care a great deal about the actors that made Stargate what it was.
I don’t see anybody complaining about how this isn’t related to Star Trek, and honestly those people just need to get lives and go outside or something. They were reporting news like this long before Universe was canceled. Trekmovie does the same thing when Star Trek actors land roles.
