Stargate Universe actor Brian J. Smith is headed to The CW’s relationship drama Gossip Girl, TV Line reports.
Smith, who played Lt. Matthew Scott for two years on SGU, will play an aspiring chef named Max. He’ll be a possible love interest for Serena, one of the show’s main characters played by Blake Lively.
An insider tells the site that Smith’s scenes will be set in Los Angeles. Buzz Foto has posted a pic of Brian at the location shoot at Colonie restaurant in Boerum Hill in New York City.
His first episode will be the show’s fifth season premiere, set to air September 26. Gossip Girl will air Mondays at 8/7c this fall.

Good for him! :)
In before comments about SGU being a teen drama...
of course I wouldn't dream of going off with those kind of comments. But I would like to be cantankerous enough to complain about the big grey bar on top of Gateword's page, I mean if you don't have a mega screen it sort of covers 40% of the screen - remove all unnecessary stuff please
SGU has given him plenty of practice for this.
Yet another example of how most stargate actors' post stargate acting gigs fail in comparason to Jason Momoa's. Jason must have some serious luck to avoid this.
As to the comments about SGU being similar to Gossip Girls, I actually once subjected my Gossip Girl loving sister to SGU to prove to my friend that the shows weren't similar. Low and behold she said they weren't, specifically citing the character drama portion of SGU.
@The Admiral, you kidding, brian will be making it into movies in no time. He was very much underused in SGU.
