Warehouse 13 ends this year, and Syfy likely won't try to replace it with the same light-hearted fare.
Syfy’s current flagship series Warehouse 13 has officially gotten its pick-up for a fourth season, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Season Four will air next summer, and will be comprised of 13 episodes.
With an average viewership of 2.3 million viewers on Monday nights, Warehouse is the cable channel’s highest-rated original scripted drama, besting both its lead-in Eureka and its lead-out, newcomer Alphas. With DVR-delayed viewership accounted for, EW reports that the series has been averaging 3.2 million viewers so far this season.
While Eureka‘s viewership erosion likely contributed to its cancellation earlier this week, Warehouse 13 has improved 15 percent (for the first couple of episodes this season) in the adults 18 to 49 demographic.
“Under executive producer Jack Kenny’s leadership, this superlative team of writers, cast, and crew continue to turn out a series that only gets better and better with every episode,” Syfy president of original content Mark Stern said. “Warehouse 13 is deservedly the most popular series in our history and we’re delighted to renew it for a fourth season.”
The network also announced earlier this year that they’re hoping for a spin-off of the show, focusing on the character of H.G. Wells (story).
It’s the third original scripted drama that Syfy has renewed since the start of the 2010-2011 broadcast season, bringing its success record this year to 50 percent:
Caprica (cancelled after one season)
Stargate Universe (cancelled after two seasons)
Sanctuary (renewed for fourth season)
Being Human (renewed for second season)
Eureka (cancelled after five seasons – concludes 2012)
Warehouse 13 (renewed for fourth season)
Haven and Alphas are the only shows still without a decision, though with its new-show smell and nearly 2.2 million viewers, renewal for Alphas seems likely. (Other scripted dramas on the network, such as Merlin, are acquired from other countries — so their futures are not contingent on receiving a pick-up from Syfy Channel.)

Wait, what's this "renewal" concept you speak of? That means it was canceled, right?
They didnt cancel it because they cant do it on their own, Correct me if im wrong but Space in canada owns it i believe and from what im told have the last word on it.
I'm fairly baffled by the success of this show. I have nothing against it, but I just don't think it has the quality of all the shows that are being canned. The central premise is a bit corny, and there are often huge plot holes, or amazing leaps of logic made by the characters. It's quite fun, but then Eureka was more fun and better constructed. I wish Warehouse 13 loads of continued success, but I just want to add to the chorus of people asking SyFy not to keep cancelling all their really top-notch shows.
I suspect that it will make it for five years like Eureka, barring any severe ratings drops. That will make it feasible for syndication.
Don't you fret, W13. You're still in season 4. Next year is the year you'll be canceled.

@3531767 - Syfy can cancel any show they play on their network. Cancelling a show just means cancelling and/or discontinuing orders for more episodes. Syfy cancelling a show doesn't inherently mean the show will end. As long as there are channels showing it and an audience for it a show can continue.
@Greenfire. I think that W13 should do what BSG did and give SyFy the middle finger by making next year the last. By now if you're a TV producer and haven't figured out SyFy's game you're pretty stupid.
@mythos that isn't entirely true if syfy is one of the main contributors to the making of a show in the first place (original shows means they are giving money to the production and have a say in episodes and guest stars, SciFi was originally worried about having Ben and Claudia as main characters in SG1 in season 9 which is why Claudia wasn't a regular, then they came back to Brad and Rob and told them to bring Claudia back in as a regular for season 10).
I just wish another scifi network would start up so syfy can fall to the wayside. Its too bad space in canada didnt air here in the usa.
The syfy channel keeps becoming less of a syfy channel. :S Good thing i'm Canadian and we have the "Space" channel.
