Former Stargate Atlantis actress Rachel Luttrell isn’t the only one joining the DC television universe. The brand new sci-fi drama Legends of Tomorrow has added actress Jewel Staite.
Staite will play Rachel Turner — described as “a tech genius/roboticist who exists in a future in which technology has an even firmer grip on our lives than it does today.”
A descendant of a long line of inventors — one of whom turns out to be someone from the DC Universe! — Rachel believes that her creations can make that world a better place. Alas, what the brilliant beauty cannot foresee is that her work is destined to fall into the hands of immortal baddie Vandal Savage, who will use it to take over the world. Unless Rachel can team up with the Legends to stop him.
Staite’s episode is titled “Progeny,” set to air this spring as Legends‘ tenth episode.
The actress played Dr. Jennifer Keller on Atlantis for two seasons, having previously made a name for herself in the science fiction world as Firefly’s lovable engineer, Kaylee Frye.
A spin-off of Arrow and The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow premiered last month to 3.2 million people. The show co-stars Arthur Darvill (Doctor Who), Victor Garber (Alias, and an SGU alum), Brandon Routh (Chuck), Caity Lotz (Mad Men), Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Ciara Renée (The Flash), Franz Drameh (Attack the Block), and Dominic Purcell (Prison Break).
Legends airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW. Keep up with the series — including the air date for “Progeny” once it has been announced — over at our sister site, SciFi Stream!
