Amazon Prime Video
Amazon is lining up its presentation for New York Comic Con, set to take place later this month and featuring new and returning shows on Amazon’s Prime Video streaming service.
The 2-hour panel “Prime Video Presents: The Power of Prime” takes place Saturday, October 14, starting at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time (12:30 Pacific). (Amazon was scheduled to present at San Diego Comic-Con in July, but opted to scuttle plans for new announcements in light of the writers’ and actors’ strikes.)
So is the studio finally ready to reveal that it has green-lit a new Stargate production? Of course Amazon is keeping its cards close to the vest as to just what is going to be announced at the October event. But its teaser description of the panel is provocative:
Join Prime Video at New York Comic Con’s Empire Stage for a special presentation featuring exclusive first looks and never-before-seen footage of returning fan-favorite series and highly anticipated new series.
That’s bound to get Stargate fans like us excited, though after 12 years many fans are understandably keeping their enthusiasm in check. I want to believe … but as for a new Stargate movie or television series, we’ll believe it when we see it.
“Returning fan-favorite series” probably refers to the promotion of new seasons of Prime Video’s existing series already in production, rather than the revival of something like Stargate. But Amazon also says that it will talk about “highly anticipated” new series. Hopefully that’s not just marketing speak (though it is that…), but that Amazon Studios and MGM are ready to announce a new show that is highly anticipated by long-time fans of the franchise.
With the Writers Guild strike over and the Screen Actors Guild back at the negotiating table with the AMPTP this week, now might be the time for Amazon and other production studios to announce their new development projects — and finally get the industry back to work.
New York Comic Con takes place October 12-15, 2023, at the Javits Center in New York City. Film and television headliners at this year’s event include Star Wars’s Ewan McGregor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera Syndulla on Ahsoka), and Marvel’s Chris Evans (Captain America) and Tom Hiddleston (Loki).
Fans who are interested in watching the Prime Video panel but can’t be there in person can purchase the NYCC digital ticket for around $28, which doesn’t offer a livestream but will have the panel available to watch online after it has concluded in the hall.

Hopefully they announce a new stargate series

The wording makes it seems like they are only showing previously announced (or currently filming) projects since it will be footage. Will there be a separate presentation to officially announce new shows in the works?
I'd expect everything they are ready to talk about to come out in this 2-hour stage presentation. Amazon seems to like NYCC in particular for making announcements, showing off new season trailers, etc. But since Stargate obviously doesn't have any footage yet, it could be something like a verbal announcement, maybe some working key art, and a press release. (There was a rumor that they were working on a generic CG trailer for SDCC, with a Stargate submerged beneath the water of San Francisco Bay.)
Oh seeing that CG trailer you described would be so exciting. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but I can’t wait to hear what comes out of this panel.

No mentioning of Stargate at all?
Yep, looks that way. It was specifically a Prime Video event (not MGM or even Amazon Studios) ... so my takeaway is that either they aren't ready to talk (perhaps with the actors strike unresolved) OR what they have cooking won't necessarily be on Prime.
Time will tell.
If this turns out to be an announcement of any new stargate i'll be blown away. The wait has been so long.
I've given up all hope. Even if Stargate were to come back, my fear is that it'll be like Star Trek. In other words, rubbish.
