Stargate Funko Pop! Statues Might Finally Be Coming

Stargate fans’ long-held wish to get some Funko Pop! figures of our favorite characters might finally be happening.

You may have seen some incredible fan-made creations (like the ones pictured here) on Instagram or Etsy, but now some officially licensed statues appear to be in the works. FunkoPOPsNews (an unofficial fan account) first posted the news on Twitter and Instagram that Stargate Pops! are indeed finally on the way.

Now listings for a series of five Pop! statues have appeared on the Italian retail site Unilibro — adding some credence to the fan report. (Thanks to Marton for the discovery.)

There is no official announcement yet from Funko, the manufacturer of the popular vinyl bobblehead statues, or from licensor MGM.

What’s the catch? The initial series of five Pop! statues listed for sale come from the 1994 Stargate movie, not the television series. So our hopes for a Funko Apophis, Teal’c, or Wraith will have to wait.

The five statues include:
    Jack O’Neil
    Daniel Jackson
    Ra
    Horus Guard
    Anubis Guard

Wraith! Custom fan-made by Reddit user Rurrie

Jack and Daniel, of course, presumably will be designed according to the film likenesses of the first actors who portrayed them: Kurt Russell and James Spader (respectively). 2024 marks the film’s thirtieth anniversary.

The figures at Unilibro are listed as forthcoming, with no release date yet available. The listing puts them at 9 centimeters tall, or around 3.5 inches.

Funko’s popular Pop! vinyl series runs the gamut of science fiction and pop culture, from movies to TV to video games, to real-world athletes and entertainers. With more than 15,000 figures released to date from just about any classic or modern series you can think of, it’s actually started to get a little conspicuous that the company wasn’t making Stargate licensed characters yet. Hopefully that is all changing.
