Praxeon time device

Time travel machine created by the System Lord Baal, which uses solar flares to send travelers back in time by means of the Stargate. The device was built inside a large silo on the planet Praxeon, exploiting knowledge of time travel by means of solar flares that Baal had stolen from Earth.

Time travel via Stargate is possible when the artificial wormhole between two gates passes close enough to an active solar flare to be affected by its gravity. While SG-1 experienced this as an accident, sufficiently advanced technology is capable of monitoring solar flare activity and calculating a wormhole trajectory deliberately. This is how Baal's device works.

To achieve time travel options at this scale Baal placed satellites in orbit of numerous stars all across the galaxy, which monitor for solar flares and transmit real-time data to Praxeon through subspace. The computing power of the time device calculates the path of a wormhole and the relative effect of the flare on it, and can pinpoint how far back in time a traveler will be sent. This data is accessible through an access terminal, where a user can scan for active flares and the options that are available for time travel at that moment. A large domed interface sits in the center of the console.

Because solar flares last only moments, each window for potential travel is narrow. Depending on how quickly a target year is chosen and the Stargate is dialed, a traveler may have only seconds to go through.

It is not known if the Praxeon system is capable of sending travelers to future dates. This is certainly possible, as both SG-1 and Colonel John Sheppard have been sent into the future by solar flares.

The time device sits in the center of a large silo, flanked by the Stargate, the Praxeon computer system, and a transport rings platform. The center of the device stretches high above the platform, and contains a large holographic projector capable of displaying the sensor map and target stars with currently active flares.
