“I don’t want to leave Los Angeles for a while,” Anderson said. “I’d rather not do a series that would keep me end-to-end five days a week.”
The actor’s young daughter is at home in Los Angeles, whereas Stargate films nearly eight months out of the year in Vancouver, British Columbia.
“It’s gotten to the point where I can’t even do what I need to do to accommodate my daughter now,” he added. “I’ve had some offers to do some things that would shoot here.”
Anderson will appear briefly in the first and third episodes of SG-1‘s ninth season, where it will take two newcomers to fill his esteemed shoes: Beau Bridges (the new S.G.C. commander) and Ben Browder (the new leader of SG-1). But the episodes won’t close the door on Jack O’Neill.
“I’ve done a couple of scenes for Stargate to help launch the ninth season and help make it clear that O’Neill is still alive and that we may see him again somewhere down the line,” Anderson said. “May see him. May … may not. But may. But may not.”
