This week GateWorld is publishing a 3-part interview with executive producers
Brad Wright and
Robert Cooper on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This is an exciting event for us: The two created
Stargate Atlantis, and Wright co-created
SG-1 nearly a decade ago. They are
the people in charge of the two shows we love so much.
Brad and Rob graciously gave us nearly an hour of their time when we visited the set in April, during the filming of “The Powers That Be” and “Trinity.” While most media outlets would convert such an interview into a magazine article and call it done, the online nature of GateWorld (and the fact that we live and breathe Stargate) allows us to do something very different. You’ll get to sit in on the conversation as we make the full audio — with very little cut — available for download.
Let us know what you think! If you enjoyed this feature, or want to chat about some of the candid things that Brad and Rob have to say about the franchise, stop by GateWorld Forum.
Now, your briefing on the Stargate news you can use!
Vancouver voice artist Trevor Devall has been cast as the voice of Hermiod (not “Hermod,” not “Hermoid,” and definitely not “Hemorrhoid”), a recurring Asgard character on Stargate Atlantis, according to his bio at Anime North. Hermiod is the helmsman of the Daedalus, the site indicates. (Here’s a photo of Hermiod from the July 22 episode, “The Intruder.”)
Dreamwatch magazine #131 (now on newsstands) includes an interview with new Stargate SG-1 cast member Ben Browder (“Lt. Colonel Cameron Mitchell”), who talks about why he has joined the long-running show. (Look for “War of the Worlds” on the cover of this issue.)
“The Cost of Honor,” the long-awaited follow up to Sally Malcolm’s Stargate SG-1 novel “A Matter of Honor,” will be released in September. The story follows up on the SG team lost to the black hole in the Season Two episode “A Matter of Time,” and will be available online from StargateNovels.com and Amazon.co.uk.
Don’t miss About.com’s newest interviews: Julia Houston talks to David Hewlett (“Rodney McKay”), who shares some of the characters and shows that molded him. And Marla R. Reed sits down with Gary “Chevron Guy” Jones (“Walter Harriman”), who talks about his character’s interesting relationship with new S.G.C. commander General Landry.
You know you want it! The third season of Richard Dean Anderson’s legendary adventure series MacGyver arrives on DVD on September 6 (Region 1). Preorder the 5-disc set at Amazon.com for under $30 and support GateWorld. (Season One and Season Two are available now.)
This concludes today’s briefing. Let’s move, people!
