SG-1‘s “Reckoning, Part 2” was nominated in the Outstanding Special Effects For A Series category, as was Atlantis‘s pilot episode, “Rising” (story). The award went to the team behind the 2-part series premiere of Lost.
Battlestar Galactica was also nominated twice in the category, for the Season One episodes “33” and “The Hand of God.”
Stargate Atlantis was also nominated in the Outstanding Main Title Theme Music category for composer Joel Goldsmith’s theme. The award went to Desperate Housewives (composer Danny Elfman).
SCI FI received a total of seven nominations this year. The cable network’s mini-series Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (Night Two) and Legend of Earthsea were nominated in the Outstanding Visual Effects For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Special category. The award went to HBO’s The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers.
The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will be televised September 17 at 7 p.m. on the E! cable network. This year’s 57th Annual Emmy Awards telecast, which includes the major television awards, will be broadcast Sunday, September 18 at 8 p.m. Eastern on CBS.
