The first plot details have arrived for “Company of Thieves,” currently slated as the ninth episode in production order for Stargate SG-1‘s tenth season. Written by Alan McCullough and directed by Will Waring, the episode promises to reveal much more about the inner workings of the Lucian Alliance — an organized group of thieves, smugglers, and drug-dealers who have filled in much of the power vacuum left by the defeat of the Goa’uld.Beware of spoilers below!Cameron Mitchell must go undercover inside the deadly Lucian Alliance to prevent his teammates from becoming casualties of an Alliance civil war. There are political machinations at work in the upper echelons of the Lucian Alliance, and Netan, their leader, fears that one of his “seconds” may be planning to overthrow him. His decision to commit ships to the battle against the Ori invasion proved to be disastrous. What is more, the Alliance is losing much territory as the Ori sweep across our galaxy.Netan sends the man, Avateo, on a dangerous assignment to capture the Earth ship Odyssey, hoping that he will either die in the attempt or be disgraced. Instead, the menacing and ambitious Avateo succeeds in taking the ship — with Samantha Carter on board. He threatens the life of Odyssey commander Colonel Emerson to force Sam to follow his instructions. Avateo believes that his victory will enable him to overthrow Netan, who he believes has failed the Alliance. The capture of the ship is a great victory, but Avateo wants more: he uses it as bait to try and capture SG-1. He is partially successful, capturing Daniel and Vala.Later, Colonel Mitchell reports back to Landry. Clearly the Lucian Alliance is behind this, prompting Cameron to hatch a plan to get his team back: he will go undercover as one of Netan’s own seconds, and infiltrate the Lucian Alliance.Mitchell visits Netan under the guise of Kefflin, one of Netan’s close friends who runs a kassa operation on the outskirts of the galaxy. Kefflin is known to be extremely reclusive, and few of the other Alliance leaders knows what he looks like. When he is beaten and brought before Netan, he pricks him with the Reole chemical (the same one Daniel used to impersonate Yu’s personal servant in Season Five’s “Summit”) to convince him that Mitchell is Kefflin, a dear friend. The plan works.Mitchell covertly transmits their conversations to Teal’c, who listens from a cloaked cargo ship nearby. But when Teal’c is captured and brutally interrogated by Netan’s men, Cameron must think quickly.Guest characters include Netan (Eric Steinberg), Anateo, Colonel Paul Emerson (Matthew Glave), Solek (a man working with Anateo), Vashin (who brings Mitchell to Netan), Gavos (an Alliance second), Borzin (an old acquaintance of Vala’s), Major Escher (SG-12 leader who briefs Teal’c, Mitchell, and Landry on the Lucian Alliance), Major Marks (Martin Christopher), Slaviash, Karug, Millic, and Rameris (all Alliance members).”Company of Thieves” goes before cameras in Vancouver on May 10, and will air late this summer on SCI FI Channel in the U.S. Learn more in GateWorld’s Season Ten episode guide!
