Season Ten‘s penultimate episode is titled “Dominion,” the nineteenth episode of the current season, GateWorld has learned. The episode is being directed by Wil Waring. That will be followed by the season finale — and perhaps series finale — “Unending,” directed by executive producer Robert C. Cooper.
“Unending” is the fifth in a line of season finales that the show’s writers thought may end up serving as Stargate SG-1‘s last episode. Season Five’s “Revelations” put a capstone on the series’ run on Showtime in the United States when the network cancelled it. When SCI FI picked up the show, the initial plan was to end it with Season Six’s “Full Circle.”
When the series found new success on basic cable and was renewed, the writers planned to end it with Season Seven’s “Lost City” — then with Season Eight’s “Moebius.”
“Dominion” and “Unending” are likely to air in June on SCI FI Channel in the U.S. New episodes resume in March, when SCI FI will air the ten episodes that make up the back half of Season Ten.
Despite the network’s cancellation of the series, all hope is not yet lost for an eleventh season through alternate distribution. Visit SaveStargateSG1.com to find out what you can do to help!
