With Season Eight’s “Moebius,” Catherine’s journey was brought to a close. Ultimately, her generosity was responsible for saving Atlantis from the second Wraith siege. But the writers’ intent for the original “Moebius” story arc may have been different, had Miss Hoffman agreed to their offer.
“…They asked me to do another one,” Hoffman revealed to GateWorld. “They just wanted me to come back for another episode. They didn’t tell me what it was. By that time I was tending my garden and my animals and playing with my grandchildren. I decided enough is enough. She does come back — or they wanted her to. I’m sorry I didn’t do it. I should’ve, probably.”
This leads to the conclusion that Catherine was likely not to have died in the original “Moebius.” The writers have regularly refrained from eliminating guest stars unless there is a certainty they will never get the actors back.

In the alternate, original “Moebius,” a story ironically written to delve into alternate timelines of our heroes, Catherine may have presented Daniel with a number of items she was planning on passing along to him anyway, including the only copy of “The Eye of the Sun” known in existence. That book lead to the discovery of a charged Zero Point Module in 3000 B.C. But it is very possible her involvement could have been much greater than a cameo.
GateWorld revealed the filmed premise of “Moebius” to Elizabeth, who admits she has not been keeping up with viewings of the show. But she may have a change of heart, albeit too late. “I’m sorry, I mucked that up! Because I didn’t do it they didn’t get to do it, I guess.”
