Nykl, who recently completed filming on a new episode of Eureka, was also thrilled to return to work at Bridge Studios. “There is a real feeling of change in the air on set as Season Four gets into high gear,” he tells us. “The scripts are exciting and delve deeper into the characters and situations in our particular corner of the Pegasus Galaxy. We have some excellent new actors around, but we also have a chance to see some of our old friends in the mix.”
Season Four opens with “Soul Food” actor Michael Beach and Firefly‘s Jewel Staite taking up the roles they introduced in Season Three’s climactic “First Strike.”
“Also, since the producers are not laden with forty episodes of television to produce, we benefit from the extra time available for Atlantis. It’s an exciting time on set!”
And what of Nykl’s namesake? “Ah yes, the good doktor … Taking a more active role in saving Atlantis — at least in the first few episodes! This year you’ll see your favourite post-communist doktor on a space walk, involved in some dangerous field operations, and, of course, taking Rodney down a few notches. It’s what I do.”
