This marks a return to Atlantis‘s original timeslot, in which it aired during the first part of its first season in 2004. Atlantis was bumped up to 9 p.m. when the darker and more adult-themed Battlestar Galactica premiered in 2005.
Just how the later (and, generally speaking, better-performing) timeslot will affect the show’s all-important ratings is anyone’s guess. Season Four will mark Atlantis‘s first time airing new episodes during the more competitive fall season; and its first time airing without Stargate SG-1 as its lead-in.
SCI FI Channel’s Friday night line-up — at least for the first part of the fall, as its summer series are still winding down — looks like this:
- 7 p.m. – Bionic Woman (off-network rerun)
8 p.m. – Doctor Who (Season Three)
9 p.m. – Flash Gordon
10 p.m. – Stargate Atlantis
The same episode of Atlantis will reair at 12 midnight. As always, scheduling decisions are subject to change between now and the show’s September 28 premiere.
