First launched as an experimental extension of the GateWorld Web site (then called “STARGUIDE”) back in 2000, the forum is now some seven years old. The forum spent several years located at Delphi Forums before moving to its own dedicated space at forum.gateworld.net in the spring of 2004.
That’s when our current membership roster began counting. GateWorld welcomed its 10,000th member in August, 2005.
Today there are more than 3.5 million posts and 42,000 discussion threads at the forum. Hundreds of fans can be found online at any moment throughout the day — morning, noon, and night.
Stargate fans at the forum discuss the latest episodes, speculate about upcoming episodes, share their love for individual characters, examine the science and technology of the Stargate universe, prepare to meet face-to-face at conventions, and more. The forum also provides areas to talk about the latest news headlines, GateWorld interviews, and other special features.
This year, the forum expanded to include more areas for discussing other science fiction and fantasy series, including daily conversations about Battlestar Galactica, Heroes, LOST, and many others.
Here’s the crazy thing: We estimate that only 10 to 15 percent of GateWorld’s regular visitors are members of the forum! If you have never paid a visit to our bustling community, now is the perfect time to stop by and say hello! Just look for the “Forum” option on the main menu, the handy “Discuss” link on every episode page in GateWorld’s episode guide, or bookmark forum.gateworld.net!
