Martin Wood, regular director for Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, is up for recognition for his work on the Atlantis Season Four episode “Trio.”
Originally scripted as a cost-saving episode, “Trio” ended up generating a much larger price tag. “‘[It] was the most logistically complicated episode both Martin Wood and I had ever been involved in,” writer Martin Gero told GateWorld in a recent interview, “and it’s just this little episode that takes place in a room … It was supposed to be this episode that saved us all this money and turned into A) one of the most expensive episodes we did last year, and B) one of the most complex.”
Wood also directed the recent direct-to-DVD release of Stargate: Continuum, which featured unprecedented Arctic footage, as well as the raising of a Los Angeles-class submarine.
Other directors nominated include Stephen Surjik for Intelligence, Holly Dale for Durham County and James Marshall for Smallville.
The annual gala will take place Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the Fairmount Royal York Hotel in Toronto, Canada.
