Tonight on SGU: ‘Light’

Stargate Universe continues tonight with a brand new episode! “Light” is the conclusion to the 2-parter started with last week’s episode, “Darkness.” Here’s an early look.

Watch out for significant SPOILERS below, particularly in Syfy’s full episode description …

From TV Guide:

With the Destiny on a collision course with a star, the crew considers abandoning the ship. A grim lottery is held to choose 17 passengers to escape in the Destiny‘s only working shuttle.

From Syfy:

The Destiny is still without power and an attempt to alter their collision course with a star has failed. The situation is now critical.  A plan is born to abandon ship using the last working shuttle, with the hope that one of three planets in close proximity will be habitable.  Although this strategy initially raises the crew’s spirits, it is short lived when Col. Young announces there is only room for seventeen people and a lottery will determine who goes and who stays.

Stunned by the implication of this news, everyone considers their fate.  Some, including Dr. Nicholas Rush and Col. Young, opt to stay on board.  Others, determined to survive, vie for a seat on the departing shuttlecraft.

In the short time that remains, alliances are forged and others damaged while Eli tries to create a message in a bottle with the aid of a Kino.  But, unbeknownst to all, forces are at work that no one could have foreseen.

  • Ahhh yes. SGU-A Space Soap Opera. Here we start again with the BSG crap. Have to check here first to see if the kids should watch tonight's Ep. I am counting. Two eps so far using sex to sell the show. Really, who could think of sex when your life is about to end unless you take swift and decisive action. Oh yes. The writers and SciFy could. Wish this was a family show again. Everyone sure argues and back-stabs a lot in this show. I am wondering how much management will be using this ploy for ratings instead of action.

  • If SGU does not get its act together I am going to stop whatching. sex is not needed and usually used to cover a weak plot. I own all the sg1 seasons and atlantis seasons but so far I will not be buying SGU.

  • Love the show so far. The visuals are stunning, the characters are real. And there's none of the usual techno babble - only real science! Of course it is a bit sad that the spirit of adventure and exploration is gone so far, but where it lacks with that it gives back in other areas, namely that the show is not as naive as other SG ones. It's a different show, and the talk of a "broader audience" scared me at first, but I'm loving it so far, watching each episode a couple of times, and looking for every bit of info on the next ones! I hope when they have resolved all of their issues with the ship and themselves, the show will pick up speed again (as the first two parts where really dynamic).

  • I actually really like this show. It is very different from Stargate and Atlantis but u know what that's fine bc change is good. Keep in mind that they are trying to get their footing and get started so things are weird but its going to just keep getting better. And a character driven show makes for great tv viewing. So it kind of takes a page from BSGs book but it will come into its own. You naysayers just need to give it time. I seem to remember ppl complaining about Atlantis too when it first started. Put everyone in their place too. so just give it time.

  • The visuals are stunning??? putting one to sleep

that movment was Cool as Quentin tarentino did a ER Episode but that is 10 years old...

  • I've seen almost every sci-fi series there is (except LOST - hate it) as far back as Star Trek TOS, and I do think they are stunning. The ship looks real and really old. Makes me think a bit about Farscape. This whole whinery is the same as with the new Star Trek movie, "fans" get annoyed that someone messed with "their" "canon", forgetting it belongs to the writers who have their "licencia poetica", and a right to evolve. I was sceptic at first, but I sunk right into it.
