Actor Michael Shanks told TV Guide Magazine that he and former SG-1 co-star Richard Dean Anderson will appear in “Subversion,” the eighteenth episode of SGU‘s first season, which will serve as a lead-in to the two-part season finale.
He also offered the first hint at just what this story is about.
But before then, Shanks will guest star in “Human,” an episode that will explore Dr. Nicholas Rush’s (Robert Carlyle) backstory.
“I made a cameo in the pilot and they’re keeping me alive to pass the torch,” Shanks said. “The next one coming up is titled ‘Human,’ and back-references my character first initiating Dr. Rush (Robert Carlyle) into the Stargate program, but my character exists more as a figment of Dr. Rush’s imagination.
“And then in ‘Subversion,’ near the end of the season, we’ll see myself and Richard Dean Anderson helping out with an investigation where sabotage took place back on Earth.”
Both “Human” and “Subversion” will air in the second half of the season, which is expected to commence in late March or early April on Syfy.

nice one! i love SGU, but I know that some people aren't that into it. I think the creators are doing a smart thing bringing back the old cast, to keep fans watching as the show progresses. I reckon SGU episodes keep getting better!! Looking forward to SPACE!!

I like how they keep the old crew visible, yet focus on the new crew. I think it's a good balance. However, I think it would be a better balance in they threw McKay or Sheppard into the bunch occasionally.
Sounds great, so long as they don't spend the whole episode just talking about how their feelings were hurt by the loss of their pet dog as a kid or some rubbish like most the episodes so far have been full of (with slow, irritating, piano music playing softly in the background).
It's funny how they have to keep bringing in the likes of Shanks and Anderson to keep people watching. Screams of desperation and that they just don't have a good enough main cast (excluding Robert C of course). When Atlantis had it's first season I can only remember Shanks and Anderson in the pilot Rising.
Sounds good. They are definitely bringing back SG1 characters to keep old fans interested. So far it seems so slow. Too many episodes when pretty much nothing happens, just people talking and talking and sometimes yelling at eachother. Looking forward to seeing Daniel and Jack again though. I wish they would get around to doing the SG1 movie.
