The final episodes of Stargate Universe (on Syfy, anyway) will begin on Monday, March 7, Syfy Channel has announced via its online schedule. Ten episodes remain for the show, starting with “Deliverance,” which picks up where November’s mid-season finale left off.
Syfy will not only move the show off the dead-end that was Tuesday night, but pair it with one of its other original dramas — Being Human, which premiered to nearly 2 million viewers in January (3.8 million over three broadcasts). New episodes of Being Human will air at 9 p.m. (following a repeat of the previous week’s at 8), followed by SGU at 10 p.m.
Both shows will repeat at 11 p.m. and 12 midnight, respectively.
Here’s the current schedule for next month:
March 7 – Deliverance
March 14 – Twin Destinies
March 21 – Alliances
March 28 – Hope
Syfy announced in December that it isn’t picking up a third season of the show (story). All hope for a conclusion to SGU‘s story hasn’t faded, though. Series co-creator Brad Wright is still in talks with MGM about how to continue on in some form (story), though executive producer Joseph Mallozzi confirmed on his blog today that a full third season isn’t in the cards.
“Still no definite word on the Stargate front,” Mallozzi said. “Following a flurry of promising developments, things have gone unbearably quiet. Not a bad sign just … no sign. There’s an anticipation that good news could break any day now — but the longer the wait, the greater the challenge when the time comes. To those holding out hope that this could mean a third season pick-up — alas, this isn’t one of the scenarios in play.
“Nevertheless, as I said in a previous entry, if and when we finally do get the green light, Brad has some wonderful surprises in store for fans of SGU (as well as fans of the Stargate franchise in general).”

UPDATE: Syfy has been promoting the series premiere of Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen on the same day and time as its online schedule currently lists SGU. (The schedule currently indicates that Marcel’s will begin Tuesday, March 22.) It remains to be seen whether Syfy has actually bumped the new show off Mondays in favor of SGU‘s return, or if the published schedule is in error. Stay tuned.
UPDATE 2: Syfy has confirmed the March 7 date for SGU on Twitter.
FINAL UPDATE: Syfy has issued a press release (February 10) confirming the premiere of Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen on March 22.
Maybe they could release an animated comic like Dead Space?
I’d gladly take a shorter season consisting of 10 episodes and/or some 95-minute movies if they are what it takes to give SGU the proper conclusion it greatly deserves.
I’d settle for a lengthy (2-3 hour) DTV movie.
What are the bettings that the ratings will pick up now that it’s on a Monday night. After the show was cancelled. >:(
Remember bellboy the show wasn’t “cancelled” they just never ordered a third season. My bet is that BW never really pushed for a season 3. So it isn’t on the table for that reason. But if spring 11 sky rockets the ratings (not too likely) then Syfy may approach him for a season 3, again, not likely. But could happen.
Well, they’re definitely giving it a good send off by pairing it with their favorite new toy. I’d say that this was a good sign that they’re trying to work something out to continue it. Since Mallozzi says that a third season is out, I’d guess that a move like this would indicate that a mini-series was being considered since there’d be little other reason to move it right now.
they can cap this badboy off with one movie. hell they crammed season 11 of sg1 into a movie. called it the ark of truth.
So, instead of moving it back to its rightful and more successful place in the Friday timeslot (Stargate and the Friday timeslot go together like PB and J), they are moving it to Mondays, airing after a garbage american remake of a brilliant british show?
Jeez! Talk about “rubbing salt into the wound”!
I don’t think the ratings are going to be too much better for several reasons: 1. Some people aren’t going to watch a show they know has been canceled and has no real ending (unless they announce a movie soon) 2. Being Human is only getting about 1.4 – 1.5 million viewers at this point. How many will stick around for SGY as they might not be the same viewers. BH has a much higher female audience share, and at 10pm both Castle and Hawaii 50 come on, shows which seem to attract the ladies. 3. 10pm shows are heavily… Read more »
I don’t live on the US so i don’t count but i can’t wait to see more, SGU was so awesome and realistic. They can’t end the series with another clifhanger, or i will go to the syfy building and inmole myself like those rioting guys lol.
how is it rubbing salt in the wound? If anything it is helping the show out. If they would have left it go solo on tuesday nights it would do even worse!
i have a feeling, if it goes through of course, that brad wright will announce a trilogy of movies that will encompass all of the teams from SG1, SGA, and SGU. I think since the SG1 and SGA movies have been put on hold for so long and now SGU is canceled but they want to finish the story there is no other way to do it but make everyone happy and put all of them into one trilogy of films. I think it would be crazy and I bet you they think that would be a great way to… Read more »
Two words: Can’t wait. 10 more hours of top quality science fiction.
sg1 and atlantis movies. that’s it. bring them on NOW, b/f the fans die of old age.
@majorsal, can you imagine if this was an announcement for those movies, the sound of squeeing and rejoicing would reach the Destiny.
This already is good news to me.The mere fact that they continue airing a month before they originally intented also says something.I’d say that a miniseries to finish the story is in play, but they need to work quickly, before the sets are dismantled.
Also, since there is a talk about good news not only for SGU,but all SG fans and they are waiting a green light for something, hopefully this could also mean something positive considering those movies. We’ll have to wait and see,I’m sure the news will come sooner rather than later at this point.
Looking forward to them but it’ll be bittersweet to know that they are the last 10 episodes of Stargate. You know… i’ve never hated the show but always maintained that it was simply mediocre. After rewatching the first half of the 2nd season though and there are a lot of great episodes. My only complaint is that the over aching plot moves along too slowly at times. Really i have a whole ton of thoughts but i won’t share them here. I just wish this wouldn’t be the end and we got some sort of conclusion to the “mission” Destiny… Read more »
I can’t see an SGU-only movie or mini-series happening, the number of fans just isn’t large enough. I could envision a Stargate movie incorporating all 3 franchises that brings SGU’s story to a close. That would pull some viewers.
i wonder how many years until Emmerich calls MGM for a sequel that ignores the low rated tv shows.
I will be happily astounded if anything comes of all this.
Also the movies aren’t gonna happen, get over it.
remember there are civilizations beofre us and some plague that wiped out life in the galaxy long beofre our species and the ancients… maybe the intelligent life they are chasing are decendants of the prvious intelligent life from our galaxy before the extinction and plague alluded to during the run witht he ancients and Ori battles..
I hate to be a killjoy, but there’s a good chance these dates aren’t correct. SyFy has been running ads stating that Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen premieres on the 7th at 10pm; obviously both MQK and SGU can’t be on at the same time, so something is wrong. Given that MQK’s date is plastered all over their site – and while I don’t watch the channel regularly SyFy is probably running bumper ads too – it would seem to be the more accurate date. Schedulebot has been wrong before. http://video.syfy.com/shows/marcels_quantum_kitchen/promos_trailers_25/cant-take-the-heat–marcels-quantum-kitchen/v1270459 http://www.syfy.com/marcelsquantumkitchen/ Furthermore this has been scheduled for at least a month… Read more »
I just think it’s funny that it took them two seasons to get to “Hope”.
Looks like SyFy is trying to convince us that it doesn’t hate SGU.
@Nemes There is probably some other explanaton. If the SGU schedule is wrong I doubt they would confirm it on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Syfy/status/35487887088685056
I will say this… If you anybody has been reading IDW’s Infestation series of comics, they will notice that the “inter-dimensional portal” Looks an awful lot like a stargate (9 lights and all). There is no word, but since IDW has a lot of other tv sci-fi comics, Star Trek, Transformers, GI Joe, Ghostbusters, Farscape, etc… This may be a hint that IDW may be getting stargate, and thus the franchise can live on like Angel/Buffy and Jericho did. An birds eye shot of the “portal” room… http://robot6.comicbookresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/infestationpreview3.jpg There is even a more detailed shot of the “portal” later in… Read more »
all i got to say is… Jack O’neill on destiny ……..every problem solved… stargate lives on
Have they struck the sets yet? As long as the set pieces are in place the start-up costs are lower.
Let’s go money people!!!
SGU is dead peopls…Typical gateworld not allowing me to post what is going on.

Monday night. Castle. SGU. Castle. SGU. Sorry, Fillion wins. Fail again SyFy. And for whatever reason, I’ve noticed a lot of crossover between Castle fans and Stargate fans, so I’m probably not alone in my assessment there. I can think of five people I personally know who are huge Stargate fans who also watch Castle. Just move back to Friday already. Not that it matters much at this point, but still. When the ratings are bad on Monday night, that’ll just be an excuse for the true final nail in the coffin of the franchise. I miss the days when… Read more »
So, now syfy has a wrestling and a cooking show? Well, after the last 10 episodes of SGU I am done with syfy!! I hope MGM can make a deal with Starz to pick up show and team it up with Torchwood this summer.
They’ve had O’Neill on Destiny…anyway while I wouldn’t have a problem with Stargate comics I certainly hope that that’s not the way they plan on finishing SGU. If they have to do print form I’d prefer they opt for novels over comics like SGA is doing. I’m perfectly fine with novels, its worked for all of the Trek series so far, I’ve enjoyed the novel continuations of the Trek series and if they can pull it off with SGU I’d be fine with that…I’m honestly still going through the “shock and disbelief” stage. When Enterprise was canceled as much as… Read more »
@Browncoat – I’m still going through the shock & disbelief stage too…from SG-1 to SGU, especially SG-1. SG-1 was/is Legendary; i believe that when a work of art becomes Legendary, in a way, it’s just the start; you have to carry & maintain that status without slipping; it motivates & inspire you because from now on you are not just on your way to become a show with a long longevity or to become legendary; your every move is imbue with a/your legendary status/spirit.
It’s a this point that artists create their best work.
I think this is what should have happened with the SG franchise until this point. The SG movie (1994) The SG-1 TV series (the first 8 years) The SG-A TV series (the first 3 years; until they mention that they were going full circle) That’s just obvious(i very much doubt any SG fans is gonna disagree with me on that) Then, they should have either re-launch SG-1 under a new name, SG Command & dial back all of the actors/writers & producers salary down,or continue with the SG-1 name, but then again dial back down all of the salary to… Read more »
Here are other fail safes that were either very important or VITAL to the SG franchise – When they didn’t implemented those previously mention fail safes & that SG-1 was cancel, they should have merge SG-1 with SG-A to get both SG-1 & SG-A fans.(& i don’t mean having Carter show up as a civilian in Atlantis; i mean having all of SG-1 & SG-A in their real persona & producing only the BEST SG stories that the writers would have written, either would it have been a SG-1 only, SG-A only or a SG-1/SG-A story; that’s half the work… Read more »
When they didn’t do any of the previously mentioned fail safes, & that no more SG movies were on the horizon & that SGA was being cancel, add to that the fact that a LOT of SG fans were very anxious to see SG-1 again, + the fact that every SG fans was upset/mad at the cancellation of SGA lead me to believe that,at that point, they should have implemented another fail safe – They should have launch a NEW SG show that would encompass both the SG-1 & the SGA Universe. They could have SG Revolution to kick start… Read more »
Okay now, this is it, this is the moment of truth. This is the moment that is going to decide the fate of the SG Franchise. SGU was a experiment. You have to learn from a experiment. – Having a SG show were the SG formula(what makes SG SG; action, adventure, humor, camaraderie, aliens, space battles, villains, heroes, etc…) isn’t applied doesn’t work – Lesson learned – Having characters that are too flawed, hard to like(don’t have enough charisma) & relate to doesn’t work – Lesson learned – Launching a new SG show without the support of your fans doesn’t work… Read more »
To Launch a Straight to Blu Ray SGU movie. (one with a intro to the SG/SGU world on the menu screen.) The SGU team would find a devise that would make it possible for some of the SG-1/SG-A team members to board Destiny(not with the stone, but for real); i am sure that if Daniel Jackson & Rodney McKay team up they could find a way to bring destiny back to earth. (not to mention that if those 2 are in a SGU movie it would bring a lot of SG-1 & SG-A fans to buy it as well as… Read more »
I really feel like this is the last fail safe before we all have to wait 10 years for a reboot.
Bring Destiny to earth by introducing SG-1 & SGA teams members, then launch a SG show(or a few movies) that merges those two teams & Universes
or
do like Firefly/Serenity did; keep all of your team members & make no changes & have a SGU movie stand as the tombstone of the last SG show(before a reboot in 10 years)
First off they should of keeped SGU on Friday Nights. i have been a stargate fan every since SG-1 was on Showtime. They could move SGU to showtime or USA Network or maybe even BBC America…Plus gateworld should reput back on the voting for each episode again. I just hope that they can make an SG-1, SGA, and a couple of SGU movies. that could be seeing in the movie theatures or direcet to DVD or first on TV abd then DVD,
Happy to see SGU will return for 10. I wish SyFi Network would get thier house in order and air SyFi shows instead of airing Jerks Rolling Around and making stupid statements about how great they are. Where is the SyFi in all that? SuFi. Watch the ratings. They are sure to increase now that SGU is on a decent evening! SyFi Rules. Mania drewls!
I miss the old SciFi that aired shows I liked to watch. You would have thought we only had two cable channels, SciFi and Disney (we have kids). SyFy, new name, new image, where did the quality go? I thank the ancients that we are getting 10 more episodes of SGU. But I’m disappointed to see the last believable show removed from their programing.
@Beanloff – It’s ok. Most of what’s on Disney is probably more believable.
[…] Check out their post on it: https://www.gateworld.net/news/2011/02/stargate-universe-starts-final-episodes-march-7/ […]
They’re putting the show in the same time slot as Castle and Harry’s Law? It’s dead.
so if you google the most popular sci fi show it says stargate universe and they are canceling it but lets make more crappy b grade syfi movies does that make sence???????????????
@Mesmer7 – You do know that SGU’s already dead, yes? There’s probably not too much concern about the ratings at this point.
