Tonight on SGU: ‘Common Descent’

Blast From the Past. What does the crew of Destiny least expect to find on a planet in a distant galaxy never reached by even the Ancients? Human beings. What do they find in tonight’s new episode of Stargate Universe? Not just human beings, but a whole civilization of people who claim to be descended from Destiny‘s crew itself!

“Common Descent” premieres tonight when SGU moves up an hour to its new time — 9 p.m. (8 Central) on Syfy.

  • What's the point in tuning in for any of the last episodes now? The show is dead, the franchise is dead.

Name one good reason to continue watching the show, knowing it will end on a cliffhanger, with no possibility for continuation?

  • Because watching it entertains me.

The franchise will be dead for a while, but what is the sense in depriving yourself of watching the last hours of stargate in a very long time? Unless you don't like the show of course, then it's understandable. But if you're a regular viewer/fan and you think there is no point to watching the last eps because there is no continuation, then you're simply sliding this lack of continuation a bit further back. If you stop watching right now your SGU experience will have no continuation after ep 16. If you simply watch everything, you SGu experience will have no continuation either, but you'll have seen 4 more eps ( which seem to be kick-ass. I loved resurgence and deliverance, SGU's space battles rule )

Seriously, ever since I heard what the premise of "common descent" would be, I can't wait to see it! Descendants of the destiny's crew founding a civilisation in a far off galaxy? I am a sucker for stuff like that, with civilisations and settlements in distant galaxies etc. It's probably why I like warhammer 40K too, it just has more explosions.

I can't wait! Here in Holland it will be available to me at 5:00 AM tuesday morning so I'll just watch it tomorrow morning around 9.

    Can. Not. Wait.

    Drones, descendants, awesome.

  • @Noldor: Yes I am a Stargate fan, and I am a Star Trek fan. But to me, at this point... watching SGU's last remaining episodes without any hope for a continuation, is like reading a book that has no ending, and to which the author is dead.

You get all excited and anxious to read/see how it all turns out, only to end on a "To be continued..."

  • I think that in your case you can watch common descent and epilogue, but just not watch the season finale ;)

I'm simply gonna watch it all, because I love the show. I wouldn't wanna miss a minute of it, even if it ends with "to be continued".

  • I'm guessing in Twin Destinies when they dialed the gate back to earth, everyone who rush believed to be dead when they went through the gate, a solar flare sent them through back in time to the destiny 2,000 years ago.

  • @ DRAYUNIVERSE: I wanna say you're correct/wrong, but I'm not sure wether I should spoil it..

  • This is one of the best episodes thus far and cannot wait until the next episode... I hope they atleast release a movie to tie up the series.
