UPDATE 2: Syfy has corrected its online schedule to show that Stargate Atlantis will indeed continue to air in the 2 a.m. slot. The original report follows.
UPDATE: GateWorld reader antipodal points out that the 2 a.m. schedule for Caprica has SGA episode titles. We don’t know yet if this means that the network has removed Atlantis’s late-night airings, or erred in the publication of its schedule. Stay tuned.
For (we think) the first time since its premiere in 2004, Stargate Atlantis is taking a break from the Syfy Channel broadcast schedule. The show’s late-night repeats were airing at 2 a.m. E/P Monday through Thursday until this week, when the network removed the show from its schedule.
In its place Syfy is trying out a number of shows for repeats during the graveyard shift, including Caprica.
Since Atlantis came to an end two years ago, the show has also aired in weekday strip format at 5 p.m., along with Stargate SG-1 at 6 p.m. This year the network bumped that combo to 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., and over the spring removed Atlantis from the afternoon schedule.
The only place to find John Sheppard and his team on U.S. television, for now, is that single episode that airs in syndication over the weekend. (This week it’s Season Four’s “Trio.”)
Stargate SG-1 repeats remain on the schedule, for now, at 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.
It’s not uncommon for networks to give a breather to shows in repeats, hoping it will find a bit of rejuvenated interest when it brought back. Meanwhile, of course, fans still have their DVDs
