Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series made its Blu-ray debut in North America just this week (story), but we didn’t know quite when our friends across the pond would get it. Now we do: September 19.
Retailers like Amazon.co.uk and Play.com now have the 20-disc boxed set listed for pre-order. Like the U.S./Canada edition, it includes all 100 episodes of Atlantis in 1080 high definition format, along with all the audio commentaries and “over 50 hours” of bonus features that were included in the previous DVD releases of the show.
The Blu-ray set is currently listed at Amazon for £119.99 (subject to change). Pre-order it now to lock in this price and support GateWorld with your purchase!
(Thanks to sionmowb for the tip)
Yay! Was worried we wouldn’t get it as we didn’t get the fans choice blu ray or ark of truth, but £119 is steep considering the US get it for $114. Am waiting on confirmation for region free or not to determine which version i get!
Wait no more – it’s region free.
So America gets it for what translates as £70.48, and we’re getting it for £119.99? I loved Atlantis, I’d love it even more in 1080p, but I wasn’t born stupid. Unless Amazon do some of their legendary pre-order discounting, this one’s a definite import.
If you do buy this, then only buy it for the high definition transfer of the episodes.
Don’t sell your DVDs yet if you like bonus features, which this set actually has less than what is on the season DVDs.
Isn’t this set supposed to have the *same* bonus features as the DVD season sets? (I know the extra stuff from the DVD complete series set is missing)
£119.99!? Why is it us UK’ers always get ripped off. It looks like an import for me too, in this econemy paying £120 for the Atlantis boxset is outragous.
Crazy how we pay the most for everything! yet when it comes to ratings we arent even listened too.
@krazzed – Ratings are specific to distribution regions. Whatever channel airs a show where you live cares only about the ratings of the show where you live. So you are listened to for ratings for your area. The ratings for SGU were also low in the UK. That aside, the UK just doesn’t have the demographics and advertising numbers to pay for a show as expensive as SGU on it’s own unless it’s VERY popular. A large chunk of UK’s population would have to be watching it to warrant the costs. So the UK audience couldn’t have carried SGU on… Read more »
It has already been confirmed as region free on many forums.
Could somebody outline what the differences are in terms of special features between the different editions, and what I’d be missing out on if I bought the complete Blu-ray set? I’ve only ever rented the DVDs, I’ve never owned them before as I was waiting for the HD release. Thanks in advance!
all seems a bit pointless as we are left hanging on a string with regards to ending/finishing or some sort of film to end it once and for all
