The CTV network in Canada has just greenlit Saving Hope, a new 1-hour drama starring Stargate SG-1 veterans Michael Shanks and Erica Durance.
Shanks plays Charlie Harris, a medical doctor and chief of surgery who winds up in a coma in his own Toronto hospital. As his wife and fellow surgeon Alex Reid (Durance) struggles to cope with the situation and fight for his life, Harris wanders the hospital in “spirit” form, not sure if he’s a ghost or a figment of his own imagination.
Twelve hours of the new series have been ordered, in addition to the 1-hour pilot already filmed.
Shanks, of course, starred on Stargate SG-1 for nine seasons as Dr. Daniel Jackson. Durance guest starred in the Season Eight episode “Affinity,” playing Teal’c’s nextdoor neighbor Krista. She’s better known for the role she landed just after that: Smallville‘s Lois Lane. (She’s also married to actor David Palffy, who played both Sokar and Anubis.)
Daniel Gillies (The Vampire Diaries), Huse Madhavji, Julia Taylor-Ross, and Kristopher Turner also star.
Saving Hope was created by Ilana Frank, the creator of ABC’s Rookie Blue, and Malcom MacRury. It will shoot in Toronto, and should premiere on CTV in 2012. Read more about the series at The Hollywood Reporter and Michael Shanks Online.
Shanks’ other current projects include a part in the horror film 13 Eerie, and the Matt Damon and Jodie Foster science fiction film Elysium, from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp, according to IMDb. More on those as the films draw closer.

i agree with @ace_love probably will be one for the TV scrap heap. I tolerated Michael Shanks in Stargate, but i really dont like him as an actor.

not the kind of show I would watch but I also give him a Good Luck.
It's such a shame that most of the Stargate franchise actors,except Robert Carlyle and Amanda tapping ended up getting horrible soap opera,or cheap trash horrror movies roles.Sure they never were,aren't,nor will ever be huge movie stars,but I know that many of them certainly can,or could do better given chance.
